Re: Dog Tags

I'm actually somewhat surprised after reading this thread. At least when I'm in teamspeak or dealing with other TG members the general idea I get here is that getting tags a matter of pride.

I can certainly understand not really caring about your tags and that's fine but I'm not too proud to say I really enjoy getting tags. It's almost like a game within the game and I enjoy the excitement of knowing that I'm at an obvious disadvantage but still manage to pull it off.

Plus the fact of the matter is at least with most of you here, you know better than to leave yourselves open in certain circumstances so if you are open, it's a rare opportunity to take advantage of.

Personally I think it would be great to do something similar with Defib kills as those are obviously the best but for now I'm proud of my measly 355 tags.

Oh, certainly. Taking tags is something to be proud of when done properly. Running off and taghunting for no reason isn't.

Re: Dog Tags

Coming to the thread late and reading through it, I have one observation: The people who professed the least interest in taking tags are the ones who kill me the most.

I'm not sure, but I think there's a lesson in there.

Re: Dog Tags

One thing is that soldiers in TG servers are so tightly packed, that you can't really attempt to tag someone and expect to survive. More often than not, his squadmates will shoot you down, revive the guy, and life will just go on. You won a battle but you lost the war. The only time I see someone resorting to a knife is when he's expanded all his ammunition and attempts a lunge as a desperate measure.

On pubs, you can easily go on a knifing spree without consequences; most soldiers are so spread out that you can just quietly sneak up behind them, tag, and run. On TG, such a thing rarely happens - and those who stick alone that much usually don't last long on the server before Eroak goes "Dude, join a squad!"

Re: Dog Tags

Dog tags are indeed a matter of pride. I love it when I manage to snag someone's tags, and hate it when someone takes mine. I used to have a real problem with tag collecting, where I'd pull out my knife on anyone who wasn't currently looking at me. And I get a little irrational about retaliation when someone manages to take my tags. I've gotten better though.

One round my knife had a peculiar attraction to this one high-ranking player's back. I think I took his tags something like 5 or 6 times in a single round. It was somewhat irritating for me, since I was hoping to grow my modest collection a little each time. By the 3rd time I shanked him, I was thinking, "Not you again!"

Of course, I imagine he was thinking the same thing. I believe he said something about it on chat, but I forgot what it was.

Re: Dog Tags

My experience with knifing is usually hearing some poor sucker's knife swish through me (near me?) harmlessly once, twice, sometimes even three times, warning me that I need to turn around and shoot them in the face. That's enough to make me keep mine sheathed.

I was on the receiving end of Lyramion's blade multiple times in a round of Fall of Berlin. I kept thinking, "Where in the hell did he come from?" this is Lyramion we're talking about, so I wasn't too surprised.

Re: Dog Tags

Why do you urge me not to, itl be fun?

i dont mean in scrims, i mean in normal matches, or around on other servers, while im not in the middle of doing a squad task, or if somebody is in front of me ...

i wouldnt put my squad in danger, just take a tag if i get an oppertunity, besides, itl be funny xD

Re: Dog Tags

The knife is a useful weapon, but it should never be the most used weapon on our servers. Running around and knifing people just to knife people will get you kicked and or banned. My urging you not to do something was geared towards your comment about making a montage of tags and embarrassing people.

Re: Dog Tags

759 unique dog tags and counting. i only played one round in a knife only server to get the 8 knife kills medal. and then managed to get it while in a regular match. it got the point where i was playing and realized i had 6 knife kills and only needed two more, so i went Rambo for a few minutes and got them. but you wont get too many playing on the TG servers, but on pubs.......oooo the horror the horror.
