Dog Tags. The ultimate battlefield trophy. How many do you have? I've been playing since August 2007 and I have 362 unique tags.

Wow, I've been playing on and off since April '07 and have 16 tags. If you see me with my knife out I must be drunk!

Whenever I pull my knife it usually ends badly for me.

Though, I am a pretty good target for others.

    Holy goodness, that's a lot!
Please forgive my frequent grammar and game knowledge flubs; I'm rusty in both areas. :)

Hope to playing BF 2142 and COD 4 on the TG server as soon as I've built a respectable PC.

Play around the 3rd more often, specifically Reaper, and you'll catch onto the dogtag-getting disease. I never thought I would, but now I find myself getting a set every few matches.

What does it matter really? You can run on a knife only server for 2 weeks and put yourself up a few thousand ranks.

I don't use my knife unless I stumble accross a sniper that thinks they are well hidden. Sometimes, the opportunity arises and I will take it, usually to busy to worry about it. Faster to shoot them....

Damonte would like to remind everyone that as this thread continues, it would be inadvisable to:
    • Post screenshots of the dogtags of anyone
    • instigate any discussion of who got who, how many times, etc etc.

Just use good judgment in what is posted in this thread. Cheers!

    Re: Dog Tags

I don't recall how long I've been playing, but it's been over one year now. In all that time, I've managed to collect 103 tags, which is not many at all.

I generally only pull my knife out either by accident, when I'm out of ammo, or when I see someone who really deserves to get knifed - in other words, someone who has no idea that my squad and I have moved up right behind him and has no concept of situational awareness.

I tend to use the knife on snipers as MDFubar said. Although I have made bad judgment calls and attempted to cover several meters to get tags only to end up with a shotty in the face...

    Re: Dog Tags

I disagree that dog tags are the ultimate battlefield trophy. Your team's flag flying high at the end of a round is the definitive achievement. Sure, I'll bust a friend's chops about snagging their tags, but I have never understood the fascination with them.

Besides, this thread is a scam. I expected to see celebrity tags of players like Brad Pitt or Jennifer Garner!

    Re: Dog Tags

I didn't realize this could possibly be a thread that would go south. I always take it lightly when my tags are taken on the battlefield. Sometimes, I give them out like mardi gra beads. I did not think it through enough to realize that some people may take it a bit more seriously than myself. As far as dog tag collecting fitting in to teamplay and the TG way, it may on rare occassions. But most of the time it is probably better to shoot the enemy rather than knife thus ensuring the kill. I did not mean to give the wrong impression with this thread. My apologies for offending anyone by starting a dogtag thread.
