Re: Hardest Name to Pronounce

I drop all letters in everyones' names after the fourth and go from there. Lyramion = Lyra, etc.

I REFUSE TO BE CALLED DAY. Sorry but I do . Stick with D, BigD, or you could try saying it properly (highly unrecommended)

Re: Hardest Name to Pronounce

Well, watching Bleach helps with pronouncing Shinigami. I never really saw Death Note, so I don't know about the Ryuk part.

This strategy works surprisingly well. Future SLs ought to pay close attention.

But aye, no votes for me. Generally, people don't mispronounce my name.

Sorry Zhohar, but you did create that lovely sound file of you saying the word a few times.

That would make me "Mast". I'm not a part of a boat, so please remember that Fubar.

Re: Hardest Name to Pronounce

Just to clarify, I try to bring most names down to one syllable in order to shorten the communication, god knows I talk enough when SL'ing. Actually, when calling me it is probably easier to say "MD' or "Foo" just to shorten it up. Mast, I would call you Chief. Sometimes it is just what sounds right.........knwo what I mean??

Re: Hardest Name to Pronounce

Wow...first off, I didn't know shinigami was a chick, either. Rock on! Power to t3h g4mer ch1cks. Second, I didn't put myself on the list because I felt like that would've been pretentious. Third, I don't mean to pick on you, daithi1, or you, draeh, or anyone else for that matter; I was going for the oddly-spelled names, preferably with odd combinations of vowels or potentially-silent letters, such as h.

Hmm...so if we're only looking at the first four letters, that would put me at "Arit." What if the fourth letter is part of a digraph, such as the th in my player name? Do you then include the fifth letter so as not to split the digraph? If that's the case, I would be "Arith." Or do you just drop the fourth and go with the first three? "Ari" works great, too.

Edit: I should've known what "shinigami" meant--"shinu" meaning "to die," "gami" (another form of "kami," as in "kamikaze") meaning "divine." Sheesh. Watashiwa nihongo o renshuushimasu ne!
