Requesting server seeders

As many of you know, our server often empties out after reaper logs off sometime around 3 or 4 AM EST. That means when normal people wake up in the morning it is empty and littered with cold dead bodies.

Did you know that it sits empty until someone seeds it?!

You need 8 people to start a ranked game. That is 8 people that are willing to sit around until more show up so a ranked game can start. It is a thankless job but one that needs to be done. I know many of you play during daytime USA hours, why not help seed the server nice and early so when I am "watching" my kids I can play some 2142.

How to seed:
Get on the server, sit there, and keep checking back to see if a game has started. squadless kicks to not start until the server has a small population. A good time to start seeding is 9:30-10:00 AM EST. Sitting there idle is perfectly acceptable while trying to start the game.

Thanks to the people that seed the server every day.

...Does this mean you're playing 2142 again?

On the same note, it is a good time to run through the map. Explore, find things and places that you didn't know about. Try things you normally can't do during regular play. Practice moves, targeting, shooting, throwing grenades, using the Clark-RDX, rockets, driving tanks and APC's. Depending on the map, even flying. It is a great opportunity to just improve yourself with some practice while waiting for it to seed.

I do this from time to time and I NEVER had to wait too long ... I think the maximum was 20 - 25 min!

It is also a great time to get to know your fellow TGers.

And yes, I am playing 2142 again, and loving it.

Re: Requesting server seeders

I get home from work around 8 am EST and want to play but no ones on and as I go to bed around 4 hours later and get up late in the evening its hard to get any game time on during my work week. But I will try to get on and mess around untill it's seeded then play hard and have fun.

My recent K/D ratio can attest to the fact that yes, he is.

I will try to seed 2142 after work again, that way you guys (and girls) can catch a lunch-break game every now and then.

Yeah, earlier today when I hopped on there were 9 or so of us for about a half hour, then the server filled up almost instantly.

Re: Requesting server seeders

Server seeding is more like an explosion on TG. Nobody wants to seed it, but once three people dedicate themselves to it, everyone and their grandmother logs in.

(I see early on the weekends -- weekdays is no good because I work a steady job.)

Re: Requesting server seeders

I've never seeded before so here goes.......

Does it help to "seed" with no intention of playing??? (sounds strange)

What I mean is...if I have stuff to do at home, would it help to seed the server just to get the ball rolling and just wait until the game kicks me out for being idle? (If I can help I will, just don't want people getting annoyed at me for making them load up to find that I'm just sitting there idle!)

Yes, as long as you've joined the server you are "seeding".

You don't need to be in a squad and the server will not kick you for being idle as it is configured not to do so until it's 100% full (i don't know the exact settings). So you can't do anything wrong by just seeding.

My experienced is that we Euro TG'ers can easily seed the servers up after work if we just get on. Me and James did this alot a few months back.
