Arrow Monday 8:45PM EST 'how can you beome an Admin'

Some of you might remember this, but during this round a fresh recruit came onto our teamspeak channel and asked about becoming an admin. All I can say is: I have never heard so many of you older IHS members go quiet or fumble with words. Thanks to Lorax (I believe), this boy was set straight and was told to contact Tempus. Did anyone catch his name before he suddenly left?

Has this ever happened before?

Opinions?

Kid, if you are reading this, don't feel bad. I did stupid stuff here too and it got Cingular Duality ticked (bad idea) at me.

LULZ.

I would add more to this so it doesn't look like I'm just boosting my post count, but, what else can anyone say to that?

Names are not important and Damonte was actually the one to provide this person with assistance, not I.

And I'm not sure he has much to feel bad about, he asked an honest question and got his answers. However, it was humorous to see him leave as soon as he found out admins actually pay TG and not the other way around.

Some twenty or so people in the 2142 TS channel and ALL of us had only one word to say:

"Damonte?"

What the heck were we going to say? "Sure, let me get you set up! Oh, and here's my baby, would you hold her out the window for me while I take a shower?"

I'm sure you realize that we're pretty careful about the people with which we entrust your playing experience. Any thrill at the power burns out pretty darn fast after you get your 10th angry pm from someone who "...didn't deserve to be kicked because bunnyhopping is a valid tactic you nazis...". After that all that's left is the knowledge that the people around you are working just as hard if not harder to keep the servers clean.

I am left with one lesson from this whole fiasco.

Lorax WILL throw you under the bus.

LMAO! I don't think I ever heard the channel get so quiet, so quickly. I personally thought that it was handled well, he wasn't left feeling stupid. Rather, he was left thinking that we have it together and not anyone can make that decision. Also, that the job the admins do is not meant to be "fun and cool"(the terms I think he used) as much as it is meant to be a responsibility.............and the only payment you get is an occasional "thanx" or reading the comments of people that really appreciate our servers.

That's pretty much good enough. On the bad side, every time I kill my buddy York in-game now, it's because I'm "using my new superpowers for evil."

Funny how we met this person, but Damonte handled his question well.

Gloop, how am I to interpret your post? Are you mad at a comment I made?

Psst, I think you just typed that out in the thread man, now they all know. Better use that edit button! BTW York has a titan sized bullseye on his back. Only visible by his friends

I just wish C4 could stick to bodies, that way I could make a real C4_Sgt_York!

No, not at all. I was just joking about the ridiculousness of the whole situation. I'm aware that text doesn't convey emotional content well, but if I was feeling snarky about something you said I'd take it up with you in a PM, I wouldn't call you out in front of everyone. That's a good way for me to end up looking dumb!

If yelling at that bunnyhopper tonight wasn't indication of his niceness.

"Um, yeah, can you stop bunny hopping, please? People are complaining."

He completely took me off guard -- I kept laughing for a full minute after the initial "WTF?" Thing is, I was having a really tense round of Tunis, and all of a sudden this guy comes in with the randomest comment possible -- I just couldn't stop guffawing for the life of me. I kept chuckling for a while afterward. I was afraid of speaking in Squad VOIP/TS so that people wouldn't think I was being mean to the fella.

While it's obviously a silly question to ask on our server, I know I've logged in to many servers that sell admin slots on their welcome message (I often log out as soon as I see that message however), so I can certainly see why the guy might have been confused.

Also, a lot of clans have all their members as admins, since they're so much smaller than ours. He may well have thought that each IHS member was actually an admin.
