I wish...
that the teams would be a little more even. I mean, let's say all the 8th's 9th's and 3rd's are on the server. Also there is a LOT of regs and about a quarter of the server is pubs. It would be nice to have the 8ths and regulars on one side and the 9th and 3rd on one side. I mean i hate being the only TG member on team when i'm facing an entire platoon of in house squads.

Re: I wish...
You have right Sir-Nerd.
There are some posts where this issue has been discussed. We all know that we like to play with people we know, our friends and team. But to balance this, we have to communicate and know each other by playing together. So yes, we all should try to balance the presense of TG members and mix with people on both sides / teams, when possible.

Re: I wish...
We do try to do the best we can with balance. It doesn't always work out but we do try. The best thing you can do to help us with this is to be logged into TS with the rest of us and voice out if there is a percieved unballance. Admins will switch people around but we really have found that it has a tendancy to ballance itself out and if we do to much switching the ballance just flips it is really a tough situation sometimes. This is something we do monitor and will continue to work on.

Re: I wish...
When the teams are stacked, contact an admin.
The admin can just hop onto the TS channel and resolve the situation within seconds by asking for volunteers to switch teams. It's happened before and it's a quick and painless way to improve the game experience for everyone. The best way to get a hold of an admin is to hop into the main BF2142 channel on TeamSpeak.

Re: I wish...
Although there are times when it can be very frustrating, I would have to say that it is a really good feeling to survive. I mean really, take a squad of pubs and lead them against an IHS and manage to hold of an assualt or force them to go another way. Lose the flag and take it back! The pubs in the squad feel so good about it that it almost brings a tear to your eye......then I realize my dog farted.
Tha admins do try and many members will try and switch also.

Re: I wish...
I think our admins and members do a pretty good job of balancing.
There are going to be times when it's a complete rout of one side, and yeah, I've been where Nerd is talking about. Overall though, everytime I've heard anyone mention that it's unbalanced, TG members have jumped quickly to the other side. On the other hand, It is a good feeling to be going up against the 9th, 3rd, etc and be able to do some damage. (or damage control) I love being the underdog. Sometimes though it's easy to get caught up in doing a good job and not notice that the other team is getting pummeled. A friendly reminder from the opposing team will correct it. Either way, I'm always willing to switch sides, and agree that Teamspeak is the easiest way to make that happen.

Re: I wish...
This is something which, as previously mentioned, has been discussed before, and it's something we, as IHS members, try to keep in mind on a regular basis, I think. I know how you feel, Nerd; I usually end up on the opposite team as most of my IHS-mates, and it can be really frustrating when you're the only TG member on your team and everyone else runs around the entire game like a smacktard. But every time I've mentioned that in TS with an admin around, they've been more than happy to do a fruitbasket turnover or randomize or whatever it is they call it to mix up the teams a bit more. Also, more people have been hanging out in the 2142 TS channel, as opposed to their individual IHS channels, of late. I think that's a great way to keep things like this from happening and to make the game more enjoyable for all. Thanks to everyone who's made an effort on that front.

Re: I wish...
Imbalance is something that is just going to continue to be a growing problem. It's not going to go away, it's only going to get worse. This is definately something the IHS's are going to have to actively keep an eye on and work between themselves to find a soloution.
All this stems from the growing number of IHS's we have. When I was forced to quit playing Battlefield there was only one true 2142 IHS..the 9th. True..there were other IHS's but most of those were centered on BF2 and the mods. So balance was never really an issue. Since my return two weeks ago, many times when I log on, the server is very imbalanced. While not a concern to me, I know that it has to drag the pubbies down when they spawn, run a few meters then die. Not being one to hold back my opinions, I will be sure to voice on TS when things are getting a little ridiculous. ![]() |

Re: I wish...
Although the number of IHS have gone up since last you were with us Takk I doubt all of the blame can be laid on us. The issue of balance has been raised a couple of times before and a solution has been found.
Instead of just populating our own private TS squad channels we as IHSs have made the push back into the general 2142 TS channel to increase communication within the game. This has a few marked benefits: 1) New members to TG are able to join-in with the chatter without feeling like they are imposing on a squad's private banter allowing them to experience VOIP with others. 2) Admins are now more visible and easily contacted when rules violations occur on the server because they are all in one channel. 3) At the end of a round that has resulted in a heavy loss on one side then team swaps can be opened up to balance the teams back out again using volunteers in the TS channel. There are always issues to deal with but more often than not there are also solutions to them that can be orchestrated by the mature nature of our members.

Re: I wish...
There will always be rounds that are unbalanced for one reason or another.
I've played my fair share of rounds on the loosing side, and by loosing I mean REALLY loosing. We're not talking about points here but more so the persona of the team to work together towards a common goal (such as holing our last flag avoiding the cap-out). On the flip side though I've enjoyed leading some really good squads on the loosing side. It can be frustrating when we're the only squad doing what needs to be done but it's enjoyable to play with five other soldiers that enjoy BF2142 as much as you do and are committed to working together and playing the TG Way.

Re: I wish...
I can't speak for others, but I personally have never had a problem with unbalanced teams...the only time it's come up, a bunch of the 3rd switched sides and presto, balanced teams again.
It would be interesting to see how people define balanced...to me balanced isn't winning 50% of the games, it's just having a competitive game. If I loose ten competitive games in a row it doesn't bother me. Now if you start loosing a couple matches by 100+ tickets, then something should be done IMO. |

Re: I wish...
Ah, I always have fun when facing off against the 3rd.
I know there will be times that things are uneven, but you'd be surprised how quickly they can balance out. Winning matches consistently by 150+ tickets isn't much fun for either side, and the admins have been pretty good in the past about making sure it gets corrected.
