I know I'm not the only TGer that goes out to the other servers to preach the Holy Trinity of Teamwork, Tactics and Communication. However, tonight I had an experience I thought you all would enjoy.
As I was at a friend's house enjoying some frosty bews and watching some football, it was rather late when I returned home to put in some gaming time. The TG servers were already empty so I muttered a curse under my breath and contemplated turning 2142 off and going to bed. However, I decided that now would be a great time to hop on a few different servers and spread the love of TG and teamwork. I found a promising looking server, set up my load-out and hopped on the one squad that was formed (out of 25 people on our team). The round ended with our team losing. Not a big surprise, since our team was spread out the entire round and not able to put any kind of force on a single flag. Someone from our team started complaining over chat about the lack of skill on our team and pointed out the fact that they haven't won a round since he signed on the server. I took the golden opportunity to point out that it wasn't lack of skill that was our problem, it was the lack of teamwork. I pointed out that if I had a full squad of people willing to play as a team and follow orders, that we could dominate this server. (I also pointed out that one squad may not win the war, but we would easily out score everyone else.) The ensuing round I formed a squad, named it Teamwork, and set out to show them how this game is suposed to be played. Three eager soldiers joined my squad and I went through the standard TG prematch babble (what kits I would like, where to spawn, etc). My three soldiers followed their orders to the letter all round. Our team lost (since they all just ran around), however, my squad never lost our flag and we easily outscored everyone on the server. I figured my point had been made, but alas, at the end of the round the 'skillz' player felt the need to announce that it was luck that we outscored everyone. I informed him, again, that it wasn't luck or skill, but teamwork. After a few more rounds with my, now full, teamwork squads placing 1st through 6th for our team at the end of every round, I was surprised to see my nay-sayer join my squad and ask for orders. The joy one gets from giving sight to the blind. ![]() Everyone who joined my squad and was shown that teamwork is much better than lone wolves, expressed an interest in the TG way of life. I eagerly informed them where to find this higher power, and told them that as soon as they accepted TG as their personal Lord and Battlefield Savior, that their sins would be absolved. Re: Spreading the Gospel! Non TG'ers become believers!
Excellent post Takk.
I too find most other servers to be farmyards full of l33t snipers and headless chickens. On occasion I will try to squadlead and even though I am not very good at SL we still usually end up being very near the top of the scoreboard (not me personally, but the squad). Most pubbies do want to follow orders in my experience, they just may not be good at SL'ing. If only to unlock the field upgrades or whatever their reason, a large percentage of players will squad up and if they see |TG| as your tag (or any tag) they usually presume that you know what you are doing and will follow orders. Kudos to you for spreading the TG way. +rep too |

Nice job Takk! Sounds like we have a new TG evangelist amongst the masses. Did you tell them to put their hands on their screens during the preround prayer?

Nice job Takk. You had the guts to do what I couldn't when playing on another server before joining TG. +rep for you
