Re: Clan Mod

Allright then, let's do it. TG raid on Clanmod, Wednesday January 30th, 9PM EST. If you're down, let's meet in the BF2142 TS channel.

(There are no rockets -- bring your patience.)

Re: Clan Mod

The 9th has a scrim on at 9pm on the 30th, another night maybe?

I did get a few rounds in of this tonight and loved it, much different game. Playing Gibralatar in Assault Lines mode is spectacular. No bleed for PAC, they must capture the flags in order, they can't go around and cap a back flag until they take the one before it, etc. Very fun!

Re: Clan Mod

I played a few rounds with Bobslovski and a couple of members from the 9th MID and thoroughly enjoyed Clan Mod. It strips BF2142 down to its basics, forces players to actually think on the battlefield, and requires a high level of skill. Gameplay was top notch and a welcomed change for me.

This is a mod that deserves attention and I certainly look forward to playing much more of it.

Re: Clan Mod

Sounds great, and it sounds like it brings the "Tactical" back to the game. Does one have to be in a Clan to play it (ie. organized scrims only)? Or can you just pick a server and hop on?

Re: Clan Mod

I'm liking what I'm hearing about this mod. Gonna have to check it out when I get more free time.

Re: Clan Mod

I have to say, I had a blast last night playing ClanMod. The restricted kits and new modes really add a lot to the game. I only played Camp Gib, and I'd definitely like to see what the other maps are like. It takes some getting used to, and I'm still shocked when I get headshotted by a SCAR from across the map, but I definitely hope we spark some interest in the community for this mod!

I'll be downloading it tonight and will try to get on there. Sounds really fun and challenging.

If I remember correctly, the Assault kit was limited to the following items:
  • Default assault rifle
  • Shotgun attachment
  • Defibrillator
  • Hand grenades
  • Med hub
  • Sprint boost (possibly)

I didn't get a chance to try any of the other kits, but I believe this mod restricts each of them to Level 1 unlocks. So, no rockets in the mix at all.

I demand smoke 'nades. As we all know these ARE the best unlock in the game (they think I'm joking). Guardian, HTE and a couple other know better .

Re: Clan Mod

Played this morning with a couple guys from Nshock and AKR. Not sure who they were but alot of these guys are GOOD. People die within a matter of seconds and they are always using cover and popping up and down from cover, which got a bit irritating for a while. It's an excellent way of improving basic skills though.

Re: Clan Mod

Using cover is the key to this game mode. The skill levels are so high that if you are in the open you are dead. You actually find cover that you never knew existed before - like a barrel half submerged in the dirt that you dive prone behind to stay alive. Without rockets, cover is alot more useful in game. And you have to quickly learn the skill of "popping up and down from cover" as Skill4Lif3 puts it. You pop up fire a few rounds and back down before your head gets taken off.

Also in the kits, I think the herzog has one less shell and you only have 2 nades. Everything is a bit limited so you have to rely on actual skill rather than kit items. People who dominate on pub servers and do well on our server will find themselves struggling to maintain a positive K/D ratio when they first play this mod. But it is extremely fun and quickly ups your skill level. I think if you play a lot of clanmod and then go to a regular conquest server you would cut through most players like a hot knife through butter. Because in clanmod you find yourself playing some of the top BF2142 players in the world!
