Hello again,
I will try to summarize the feedback and the different opinions so far. Participants & roles: 1. Every TG forum member can participate. 2. Priority should be given to supporting members and on a “first-come first-serve” basis. 3. Anyone can select any role. 4. All roles are chosen by lot (this is the most democratic) 5. “School-yard” system 6. CC by appointment or by lot, then CC picks CO, CO pick SLs and SLs picks SMs 7. CC and BRP roles need some extra commitment, but can be a different person in every battle. Campaign time plan: 1. Span the campaign in several weeks / months 2. One event per week 3. One event per two weeks As Aruncado said, “… taking a few weeks to get through all the battles. Get a feel for your opponents and have enough time between matches to devise weaknesses in their overall makeup in order to better attack or defend the next week.” Having time between battles will have the following benefits: 1. Members will have more possibilities to join the event, as it will be spread along several weeks. 2. Have time to post results, discuss strategies and keep statistics. 3. BRPs can work with the content development team to present AARs with video and photos. 4. After every battle, the SLs should submit to their CO a “Squad Debrief Report”. Then the CO should compile these reports and submit to the CC his own “CO Debrief Report”. 5. Before the start of the next battle, there will be some time. Based on the previous CO report, the CC should submit to the CO a “CC Briefing Report”, regarding the strategy, tactics and overall mission layout. Then the CO should submit in turn his “CO Briefing Report” to all the SL’s 6. These reports will be available to all the members of the same army to digest and further discuss. These reports can be placed on a sticky thread, inside the private forum of each army, so anyone can view these. This way, changing roles within the campaign will not cause miscommunication issues between army members, as people enters and leaves the campaign. Battles (maps) play order: 1. Play one battle per round 2. Play the “historical” order of the battles 3. Play each battle more than a round 4. The previous battle winner has a disadvantage (loosing army chooses battle and mode, or use DaBrit’s “ticket” and “time” system) 5. The previous battle winner has the advantage and chooses the next battle and mode, or use DaBrit’s “ticket” and “time” system) BRPs: As Daithi said, we can use “spectator mode” for BRPs. Spiff said: “Put the spectators in their own Teamspeak channel so there is no chance of passing info through TS. Not that anyone in TG would do that anyway. It would still be cool if they had their own comm channel to guarantee the best "coverage". • Turn on “Spectator Mode” • Only the two BRPs must use this mode • BRPs run FRAPS or similar Rali3gH said: “The people chosen for the photographers can work with the content development team to work on this and they can be responsible to track the stats” Forums and Teamspeak: 1. Two private forums and two private TS channels, for the two armies. 2. One private “BRP” forum for all BRPs to collaborate. Awards: Aruncado said: “Have a PAC or EU victory ribbon or maybe get ribbons for best squad, best sniper, gunship ace, or something like that at the end of the campaign. You could run it as a totally unique, first of its kind, super awesome event with special rewards for victory and participation.” Yes, we can be very creative here! That is all for today, keep up the feedback. Does anyone like to volunteer and try to setup this event with me? I think we need at least two people to start getting the concept more formal and try to kick-off the event. Please PM me or post here. Regards.

Re: Proposal for a “TG BF2142 Internal Campaign” event
This looks like a lot of organizing. If you want any help, I'm here. How many people would this whole thing involve?

Re: Proposal for a “TG BF2142 Internal Campaign” event
This looks like fun. Rather than a single CC, a pool of commanders for a High Command / General Staff might give a better feel.

Re: Proposal for a “TG BF2142 Internal Campaign” event
What is meant by choosing CO/CC/SL 'by lot' -- would it only be a lot of interested parties? Otherwise, we might end up with CC's/CO's/SL's who aren't interested in those duties.

Re: Proposal for a “TG BF2142 Internal Campaign” event
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD GIVE ME A SIGN UP SHEET!!!!
Have the generals be observers of the battlefield map and give orders to the armies CO and he'll relay it to the squads.

Re: Proposal for a “TG BF2142 Internal Campaign” event
To make it a real campaign you might want to work up a list of benefits and penalties for teams if they win/lose a campaign mission.
Example: If EU blows up PAC's Titan in X mission then PAC plays X players down next mission. Or if PAC wins Y mission then PAC gets N second headstart on X map before EU squads (not CO) can spawn in. Stuff like that so that the impact of a misson will carry over through the campaign. Of coruse we can't enforce it beyond self regulation. But its our campaign and if we say "You lost the last map, you can't use your tank for the next map" then that's how we're going to play it. Maybe even Campaign Commander specials that they have and can use once during the campaign and be in affect that battle only. Things like restricting assets, extra reinforcement, etc etc.

Re: Proposal for a “TG BF2142 Internal Campaign” event
And that is what we would want to avoid. I think if these types of rewards are included it has to be carefully balanced and ensure that the reward only lasts for a short period of time not the entire next mission\round. Maybe also incude a contingiency that a side can only have one reward every other mission\round or something like that. The last thing we want is to mess with the great balance that the game has.

I think this is a little too hard! That would bring a big unbalance in the game. "you can't use your tank..." ... if that happens guess which map will be next? As the losing team picks the next map it sure will be a map with NO tank on it ![]() |
