There sure is, the admin forums are lit up about it believe me. We'll give you the news the moment we stop squawking about like hens! (As soon as there is news anyway.)

Re: Conquest Server Overhaul

Sounds like this will coincide with me giving my ISP a kick in the balls to fix the connection issue I've been having. As many of you know who have played with me since I came here last year, I'm a fairly regular face on the TG Conquest server - or was up until about the last month or two of last year. I've had work-related stuff going on, but always have found the time to play.

Well, the past few weeks I have had packet loss of anywhere from 15 - 55%, which makes playing any game difficult at best. So, this morning, I finally got in touch with my ISP's (Comcast) tech support department and the are sending out a Lead Tech to troubleshoot and fix the problem. I should be back up and running, with luck, by this weekend... and I've already been promised a credit to my cable bill for the trouble they're putting me through.

So, glad to hear that things are being worked on on the TG end... now I need to get things working on my end so I can start playing again!

Re: Conquest Server Overhaul

I got a response today that I wanted to share:

Quote:
Unfortunately a new box isn't going to help with 2142. We are and have been working with DICE on getting a new patch going. So we're kind of at the whim of DICE at this point.

We too have seen 2142 crashing more often recently as well as all of the other providers. About 3 weeks ago (after punkbuster issues that caused crashing) we as a group (GSPs) got on DICE about all the recent crashing and they started excepting our dmp (dump files created) and are still looking into them.

So we're all waiting for DICE...
It looks like the ball is in DICE's court on this one.

Clearly this is a conspiracy to get us to buy Heroes.

Hahah, classic. Well, maybe we should all submit the things that have not been finalized after the "Final," patch. After reviewing this, can expect a patch due out sometime around the year 2142.

They had better, or me and a couple of the boys will be heading over there with some power tools

Re: Conquest Server Overhaul

Didn't DICE and EA officially say that there will be no more patches for 2142? Are we talking a public patch or a patch specific for our problems?

Re: Conquest Server Overhaul

No clue. But from a logical standpoint, there's no money to make in coding patches. Considering the incredible delays and the overall poor quality of the patches so far, it's clear doing that sort of work isn't on DICE's priority list.

Perhaps someday, 2142 will become open source. But then, by that time it happens, the Playstation 9 will be out.

Re: Conquest Server Overhaul

Maybe it is some type of trojan causing the 2142 to crash. MAYBE its from FFOW ?Just kidding! But this crashing has caused me to play a LOT more of the Front Lines Fuel of War.

Re: Conquest Server Overhaul

Well... in that case, I'll have my ISP running long before DICE gets off their arse to assist.

At least FFOW comes out the end of this month.
