So how do you navigate your games?

After playing FPS games for, well, ever....i've come up with controls that work great for me. It's always the first thing I customize after an install, but most people seem to find my choices bizarre.

Surely you have something weirder, though. Play 2142 with wheels and pedal? Your toes? Mind control? Let's hear it.

A = Forward (pinky)
Z = Back (pinky)
E = Left Strafe (middle)
R = Right Strafe (index)
Mouse = Free Look, and main navigation.

edit for illustration:
Allows me to move forward/back+strafe at the same time, also allows ring finger for Q & X at same time if needed. pinky shares forward and back duty because, well, i don't need to do both at the same time.

Tilt the right side of your keyboard 45 degrees toward you. Place pinky on z, ring finger on a, middle finger on e, index finger on r. It's actually kind of comfortable.

That is odd. I used to play Quake 1 and Duke Nukem with the arrow keys, but then again, I think everyone did. Then when I outgrew that, I think I moved to ijklbefore settling into the standard wasd.

As for controls, c is vehicles in and out, f is nade, y is camera cycle and thats about all of the weird things.

Back in the days of Jedi Academy, I had wicked wacky controls, spanning the whole keyboard pretty much.

I have everything different

I use the arrowkeys and the numpad as well as "return"(jump), "shift"(crouch), "crtl"(prone), ...

First reason: I learnd it that way
Second reason: My hands get very cold if I play too long ... with that my hand simply HAS to move (at least a little bit) and it doesnt get that cold.

Works perfektly for me!

wsad,

g= grenades
f= rockets
middle mouse wheel button is defib
back thumb button is crouch
forward thumb button is medpack.
ctrl is TS

pretty sure everything else is standard. I use the g for grenades in most games. the F for rockets took a while to get used to, but it is critical to get those rockets out first.

(Pain in the butt if I use the basic rifles)

I will start this with, I am not left handed but....Started playing Doom like this and just cant switch...

I game with mouse in left hand and numpad as my directional and key controls:
