Re: What does it mean to you to wear the |TG| tag?
Back to the original topic. To me, wearing the TG tags means that I hold myself to a higher standard. It means that I have to constantly gauge my actions and compare them to those who have come before me and from whom I have learned so much to make sure they fit in with what this community is all about. It also means responsibility--I am responsible not only for my actions, but for the actions of my squad members and my team members. I, along with every other member here, am also responsible for making sure non-members understand what we are all about.

Re: What does it mean to you to wear the |TG| tag?
Wearing the |TG| tag means that I understand, accept, foster and promote the TG "Code of Conduct".
TG "Code of Conduct" = TG Primer + SOP's + Server Rules.

Re: What does it mean to you to wear the |TG| tag?
Ya know, theres one big step you need to take before you put the Tags on. It may sound like a simple step to some, but there are many players who want what this community has built, just they will never be able to understand it. And it's sad, you see many great players come in only to turn it away, because they carry this idiotic attitude.
You have to break the chains of being the stereotypical gamer. Your impact in the community has little to do with being able to "pwn" the whole server and their mothers and their puppies. Or even how much time you spend on the server. It has to do with how fun you are to play with, that people can depend on you to make the game fun for them, even if you go a round or two with out being able to score a lot of points. Because if you look at it this way, you are truly playing your best when your helping everyone else out. |TG| isn't just in the server, it's on the forums too. Think about it, |TG| means a lot of people look up to you, embarrassing yourself with those on means a lot of people will look down on you. I don't mean to scare anyone into not putting the tags on, but I am challenging you, are you ready to take your gaming to another level and lead the way?

Re: What does it mean to you to wear the |TG| tag?
"All I'm going to say is...How can TG be "elitist" when anybody who wants to may put on the TG tags?"
I love the server rules, size and map rotation and most of all the community orrientated mentality. But the Tag needs to mean something more than "I justed signed up". It means teamwork and fun and rules. Unfortunatly because you let anyone join, you get a handful of peeps spamming to ban anyone not in TG for shooting at them or punishing them. I can usually count on being banned by some whiner in TG because they got shot at least every few hours. Jumping on a ledge to shoot someone on the other side is all of a sudden considered bunny hopping and BAM!! banned again. Ten out of the ten times I TKed punish someone in TG, which I rarly TK punish someone unless they did something TOTATLLY idiot, I was banned instantly. Now is that not outcasting non TG? The problem is not the mentality of most of the people, its the few that abuse their status, whine about others then go hide behind their TG tag. If you wan't a truely friendly community you need to weed out those people, unfornatly they do include your admins. I originally signed up for the forums for one specific incident that pissed me off. The enemy pushed up the beach on Gibralter. Facing the beach, I was on the right side, killed a guy or two, then looked over the beach when I noticed that the entire other team went the other way and insta capped harbor. So I commander directed my to the other side of the beach by crossing the beach, where I ran to the top and came across the enemy as my commander then dropped an orbital strike to assist add chaos to my abush. I killed a few then died. One of those peeps was your admin who immediatly banned me for spawn camping. Spawn camping from edge of the beach, not on the beach, and killing people who were not even on the beach while under DIRECT orders of my comm who was my eyes and ears and cover. Now that is admin abuse. Also, I have led or been in a squad with most of you and would again. Unfornatly, because I can't trust your admins and because it only takes one of you to abuse power then hide behind the others, I won't share my name at this moment. I don't wan't to sound like I hate everyone, I don't, I appreciate the concept and goals and actually enjoy most of you. You may see it differently from me, but from a non TG perspective, that is how I view TG. Now that some of you have expressed what it means to you to wear the TG tag, you should be asking what can you do to those dreams a reality. I figured I'd least give more detail to my rant rather than whine vaugely. Last edited by Disapointed; 02-20-2008 at 06:44 AM. Reason: still not happy with my edit |

Re: What does it mean to you to wear the |TG| tag?
There is a process in place for appealing a ban and without going through that process to appeal a ban, a ban is not removed. I have not seen you go through this process which makes think you may be confusing a ban with a kick. Kicks happen for multiple reasons, either by an admin for a rule infraction or by the server when it kicks someone for either not joining a squad in 90 seconds or to make room a supporting member. Could this be what happened?

Re: What does it mean to you to wear the |TG| tag?
Disapointed, You really need to read the rules and SOP's before you go on ranting, as you put it. IF you where Banned, there is a process to be followed to have it lifted or to appeal it. Our admins have said that they someitmes make mistakes, hell they ARE human. I can tell you now, that when I am playing an Asmin will come on TS and ask what is going on before any action is taken. People are genereally wanred before any action is taken, and no one in TS ever tells(or suggests) an Admin to kick or ban someone. The process os to report an infraction and let the system do it's job.
It sound to me like you where "kicked" and a mere coincidence with you actions. The "kick" script that appears when you are kicked for a supporting member may say you where kicked by an admin, but reality is you where kicked for a supporting member. And I have to tell you, Joining a forum without reading the SOP's and Rules of such forum and posting just to complain, doesn't really rank in the top ten of mature things to do. Maybe ask questions before complaing, understand the actions before ridiculing would be better. You have come to our house, complained and insulted or admins(your hosts), and yet we still welcome you and invite you to our squads. You have not been banned from our forums...........shouldn't this say something? Follow the proper procedures and you will find the answers you seek.

Re: What does it mean to you to wear the |TG| tag?
There is an appropriate place to discuss these things, Disapointed, and that is the contact an admin forum. Railing about the unfairness of an entire community's philosophy in a thread that has nothing to do with what you're speaking of, regardless of how detailed or well-laid-out your discussion is, shows a lack of maturity on your part. Before calling out our admin team in a general forum, please speak with them about the possible reasons you may have been kicked or banned. As Lorax said, you might not have been banned at all. Also, check this post about what to do if you're banned.
If I knew your in-game alias, I'd be more than happy to catch you in game one day and explain more about how TG works. Mine's the same as my forum name; feel free to ask me about the community if you catch me online.

Re: What does it mean to you to wear the |TG| tag?
Disappointed, this is a thread to describe the ideals of TG: the core spirit, beliefs, and truths of what we all strive to become. Of course, that is not what TG actually is: it is a sad fact of life that there will be as many idiots in TG as there are in the real world. We're all quite aware that there are bad TG members and that there may even be bad TG admins.
Now, what you have done here is whine and complain about this minority. That kind of attitude solves nothing: it creates flaming discussions and it makes people hate you, regardless of whether you have a valid point or not. If you had ever been a part of TG, or even mildly subscribed to the ideals of TG, you should written a constructive thread, something along the lines of "Hey all, I've noticed a lack of teamwork, maturity, and TG ideals in the TG players on our servers. I even believe I've even been wrongfully punished by a TG admin. Has anyone else noticed similar behaviour? What can we do to fix it? Is there a check and balance for admins such that their words are not final? Should there be a TGU course for new members before they can wear the TG tag?" That kind of writing is constructive and it would have actually resolved something. It would have made TG better, and it would have made people sympathize with you because they've seen that you can be a rational person. But, as you can see from the posts above, what you've done here is rain on people's parade and insult what TG stands for. Of course no one will care for what you say, in fact, I'm sure there are people who want to post "Good riddance." Ironically enough, the bottom line here is what TG is all about: maturity. Anyone can complain and post negative comments about a community after they've been banned or witnessed improper behaviour: it takes maturity, patience, and resolve to try to fix what is wrong, to come to a resolution.

Re: What does it mean to you to wear the |TG| tag?
If you've been kicked 10+ times and are not banned, it's probably the supporting member kick. Lets see what else...
Quote:
Disapointed, the your general hypocrisy is highly amusing. I would love to have hang around as long as possible provided you make a proper account (perhaps one where you learn to spell disappointed correctly, or stop being an anonymous Nancy all together). There are whiners everywhere. However, for you to make an account with the intent to whine, then you whine about us, whine about the games you played...then whine about whiners...I'm sort of happy your philosophy doesnt align with the admin staff here. I think that's one reason why the vast majority of the experiences on the TG server are positive. Wearing TG tags means that I am part of a community that is concerned with creating a mature fun environment, easier said than done. a) BestSnipaEVA_ b) NinjaSniper c) ~L33T~ IAAFF (I Abandon Armor For Fun) d) EM0F0rLif3 e) Nancy

Re: What does it mean to you to wear the |TG| tag?
Wow......a tough one? I'd go with c. Not to be mean, but the fact that you comment on the armor means that you know the person and have played with him. My second choice would be c since you said "stop being an anomymous Nancy all together."

Re: What does it mean to you to wear the |TG| tag?
The correct answer is none of the above. Enough people have responded to the post in question and unless someone has something unique to add to that, I suggest getting this conversation back on track.

Anyways, since you seem to not be able to understand why we let everyone join, probably you were to busy thinking of some good stuff to say, I mean it's written in almost every post in this thread. Think about this, the world isn't perfect, there is good potatos and bad potatos, but we give a chance to all of the potatos, and if they are bad oh well they'll leave. It's not about playing with the best shooters, it's about playing with the best gamers, one's who enjoy the same way we play it. Yea some are better than others, but bottom line it's about fun, not flexing your gaming muscle! From your post, it sounds like you are looking for some crazy clan where wearing *$N4ZzY(* means you are better than everybody else, go find it. BTW, I am pretty sure we have a super friendly community, I like everyone here!
