New -- looking forward to a bright future here.
Just wanted to stop by and give a tip of the hat to all of you guys. Forgive me, I didn't want to just post a simple 'hi' in the sticky thread, which would most likely get lost in the sea of others that it is (most probably) flooded with.
I came to BF2142 from years of Counter Strike after a buddy suggested it to me. I was hesitant. In my years of Counter Strike, I've belonged to a guild/clan/group of people who refer to themselves as the World Wide Alpha. The group, and the people in it, stand for 'family gaming' (even if it's a game where you kill people :-D). We encouraged, and enforced, respect of others, clean language, and all around good fun. In my experience, just about every other server on Counter Strike were full of young kids who had nothing better to do than spam the mic with trash talk and show nothing but disrespect to everyone else. The WWA was a group of mature adults, and I was very unconvinced that other such places existed. After the move to BF2142, I found that there weren't quite that many obnoxious children (not by any means saying that all of them are, I was referring specifically to the obnoxious ones!) running around with their mics on -- still some, but not quite as many. So, I stumble upon this place and decide this might make a good second home for me and decided to give it a shot. I've been spending a while reading up on the topics and I've found you (as a whole) are mature people who only, like the WWA, want a friendly game that you can easily enjoy without the stress of people spouting off every curse word they know at you. I'm looking forward to joining the game and playing aside you soon, and hope to better myself while I'm here. As a side note, I'd like to say that my internet connection is very screwy and has sporadic latency issues during the day and evening, and tend to iron out towards the late night (11PM central and later). Now that that's out of the way, a quick question: In the rules, it states that 'bunny hopping' is not allowed. Does this include jumping behind walls? I don't tend to hop around when I'm being shot at, but if I'm close to a wall, I try to jump behind it for cover -- usually just a single hop to try to get myself safe. Is this acceptable? |

Welcome aboard! Thanks for taking the time to read the rules and SOP's. Bunny hopping does not include jumping to get over an obstacle. Also don't worry about hopping over the train tracks on Gibraltar. If you are hopping to avoid enemy fire thats a no-no. If your jumping to get over something that is A-OK. Notice my subtle change in verbage. One is hopping (simply jumping in the air with no other purpose than to avoid fire) and the other is jumping over something. We have a great crowd that is definitely still on in your time "butter" zone. Again, welcome and hope to see you in game sometime.

We don't kick for high pings, but if you're the non-supporting member who has been on the server the longest, the server is full, and a supporting member joins, you'll get kicked. Before I became a supporting member, even when the server was full, it didn't take me more than 3 or 4 tries to get connected, however!
And welcome to TG! Many of us consider this the best place to game, and I am definitely one of them! |

Welcome to TG Xovak, sounds like you'll fit in fine, some advice would be to try and join squads led by members with TG tags, they tend to be the most organized and fun to play in.

You'll fit right in Xovak. Best advice I can give you is to find a mic and use it. From your story of WWA I figure you already have one but I thought I'd mention it anyways: it makes the game a lot more enjoyable.

Thanks for all of the welcomes, I certainly feel like I fit in after that. I've just played a few rounds on the server and had fun until my BF decided to randomly close. I was in a squad that was lead by a TG member on Gibralter, which was fun. I hope for many more games like that one. Thanks again! |

Now my CS buddies wonder why I don't stop by anymore.... Welcome to your new home. You'll find mature, intelligent players with a focus on tactics, teamwork and fun. Anything less is not tolerated! And although not required, I STRONGLY recommend becoming a supporting member. You'll be sad when you can't connect or get the boot in the middle of a great round. Looking forward to squadding up with you.
