Re: Vehicle assets
What about asset squads that clearly have no business being an asset squad?
ie: some assclowns make a 'Gunship' squad and proceed to impact it with the ground over and over... the rules say I can't commandeer their gunship because they're an 'asset squad', but obviously it's doing nothing for us in their hands...

Re: Vehicle assets
If you wait in line for the asset you may have it, that is how the rules read. We ask that you respect the asset squad but in this case I would understand wanting to take over and would respect that.

Re: Vehicle assets
As a CO, it's a tough call. On the one hand, you want your assets in the hands of those best able to use them. On the other hand, this is a game and everybody should get their chance to have fun flying or driving around, even if they are a terrible pilot / driver / gunner. After all, how else are people supposed to practice and get better if they never have access to the vehicles?
After speaking with Silver yesterday on team-speak and giving it some thought, I don't think that I would enforce this via chain-of-command, even if it means that the team that I'm on loses the round. It's not the CO's place to take the fun away from their players. It's not a real war with real lives at stake after all and players will only get better with vehicle assets if given the chance to use and practice with them.
I'd probably think differently if I didn't see the same names creating asset squads (for the same assets - usually Gunship) nearly every single time I'm commanding but I do. And part of the maturity of playing on Tactical Gamer means to me that it's only fair that we share our toys with one another
. Not that I'm accusing anyone of immaturity, I don't doubt for a second that those individuals are just trying to play with what they feel they are best at to help out the rest of the team. On the other hand, maybe it's fun to have a go at something you aren't so good at to give yourself a challenge?

Re: Vehicle assets
All I ask is that if there's an armor map up, and Spulat is playing, that everyone please yield at least one tank to Spulat the start of the round

Re: Vehicle assets
/sigh/ I just watched another TG tagged IHS member yell at someone to get out of the gunship. Why? Why wasn't he allowed? There was nothing said about a CO order. There was no invite into the asset squad. This is upsetting to watch sometimes and how do pubbies feel when we bully them around? How are we expected to get new members? This isn't here to protect you as TG members, it's to be fair to everyone. Next time, I'm going to start taking action.

Re: Vehicle assets
I am bumping this as it has come up in game again this evening. Just because you name your squad "gunship" or "tank" does not give you the right to take it every time. Think of it as a sign of your intentions hoping your team mates understand and leave your equipment for you but if you die and spawn on the GS pad and someone else is waiting there to take it...IT IS THEIRS TO TAKE.

Re: Vehicle assets
I usually comfort myself with the usually correct suspicion that the tank will be respawning shortly after the guy takes it. I've been wrong... maybe... three times? Unsupported armor = EPIC PHAIL.
Plus, it's fun to fiddle with your PDS and watch SL's make mad buggy rushes into walls and enemy mines coming out of the EU uncap on Belgrade. Good times.
