The other day I got one of my promotions and I noticed I had not one but three remaining unlocks to choose. I'm absolutely positive I didn't go three ranks without picking an unlock. Between the last promotion and the one in question I received several different badges and ribbons. My question is this: Do certain badged and ribbons award you an instant unlock, or am I just victim of a strange glitch? I searched around a bit and didn't see anything pertaining to this particular incident, so I thought I'd ask.

All Northern Strike badges and ribbons award you an unlock, but no points.

Ah hah! That's it, then. Two of the awards I got were a Northern Strike badge and a Northern Strike ribbon. Thanks muchly!

Thanks to NS unlocks, I was able to take the entire Voss branch in about 2 promotions.

You MUST run out and buy NS at your earliest opportunity......IDS and motion mines are only available to you when you have NS or pick up a kit containing them!

For the few dollars.....you'd be crazy not to!

To be fair you can unlock them as field upgrades as well...which will last you until the next server crash.

Are you 100% sure of this? I think these upgrades (field or permanent) are only available with NS!

I was able to field-upgrade the NS unlocks before purchasing NS.

Yes you can field upgrade them, and its motion mine bait not motion mines that are NS exclusive, I find the extra camouflage to be my favorite.

I still would buy the NS booster to have these unlocks "unlocked" permanently.

Ick but theres hardly no NS servers up! from what i see. So do we have one? I bought the deluxe price for same price as the game, which includes NS, HOWEVER for those of you thinking about digital downloads beware ea has a consistant issue transferring old ea accounts to the new setup. the game is assigned to your email addy, which you cant use in the game login of course. A lol offtopic but yeah :P


And thanks for the info on unlocks in NS, i didnt know!

I'm at a point where I don't unlock anything anymore, and to be frank you don't need to unlock everything. For instance, the spawn beacon upgrade which lets you spawn in quicker is not necessary (reduces time that could be used for a revive. Radar grenades were dumb before 1.4, but now serve a small purpose. I still prefer an IDS.

I still have 1 unlock available, but I see no reason to use it.

MasterEditorInChief Thank you for that thought agout the ns squad leader unlock. I was planning on unlocking that, but didn't consider that. As a side note, a normal medic carries around the shock paddles and the rockets/shotgun, so there really wouldn't be a use for the radar gernade.
