Who's Faster on the Trigger
I have this really weird deal and could use some input. I usually have a ping of 25-55 depending on the server location. I fire on someone with a ping from 150-275 and they kill me with one or two shots. I'm kind of at a loss...JJ
Oh, sorry if this is in the wrong place...this forum board is F^&%ing HUGE !!! |

Re: Who's Faster on the Trigger
Headshot... it's the only thing that can account for it unless your mouse is really lazy.
2-3 bullets from any L-AR will take some one out.

Re: Who's Faster on the Trigger
If you slap a Baur into single-shot and slam someone in the head twice it's usually enough to cripple or kill regardless of ping.
And yes, the forums have a large selection to choose from but they aren't intended to be viewed all at once - pick a few you like the look of and gradually branch out from there mate. And welcome to TG Jimmy ![]()

Aye, I wouldn't advise playing on servers where your ping is above 90. It throws off the game and you begin to unlearn some of the aiming skills you've picked up.

Re: Who's Faster on the Trigger
ok u you have to remember ping works both ways, so if you and laggy are both running to the flag, and you get there at same time, you wont see each other show up till worse lag between two of you. So lets say your on the flag and he comes around the corner, if you've been at that flag longer than a second, then hes going to see you laying there before you see him technically. Not to mention lag is variable constantly moving up and down to some degree. So in theory when he starts shooting if his lag, drops slightly then you get a burst if information from his comp, in this case bullets. So it may seem as if he had just started firing, when on his screen hes almost dumped an entire clip. Of course the headshot variable is another consideration

Re: Who's Faster on the Trigger
Guess whoever is killing you is more accurate, 2 bullets in the head with any gun is a kill, but it varys with distance ,for example you will only kill someone with two pistol bullets if you are at very close range.
I usually have ping between 100-120 on TG and it takes a bit of getting used to , but not unplayable.

Re: Who's Faster on the Trigger
Its funny because I started playing 1942 and it seemed that it was not entirely necessary to score a head shot to kill an opponent before he hit you. 2142 which I understand is years along seems more finite in the sense that your accuracy needs to be very good. It does not help that I started playing FPS as a runner and gunner. I have a tendency to not spray and pray but expend more rounds than I think should bring a foe down.
Deviating from the topic for a moment, is there a practice method to become more accurate while on the move or is the bottom line you need to be momentarily static to have the best accuracy? <-- Long question...JJ |

Re: Who's Faster on the Trigger
You can see the crosshairs getting larger when you're moving, and smaller when you're not. If you crouch and stay still, they will instantly get a lot smaller, so try going to a knee, and aiming through the sights.

Re: Who's Faster on the Trigger
Here's my experience and don't ask me why this is, because I'm not an expert on server dynamics. I do know that my ping is usually around 13 but never much higher than 30 on the server. I would imagine that's pretty good.
I have noticed one thing and I have been sort of keeping track, at least making a mental note of it. I have had instances where I've gotten the drop on a player and they've basically been able to turn or see me then take their shot and take me out. Normally I'd write it off to a lucky shot or they're real good and there are several players that are good. There are several players that are good enough to get head shots on a person at under 30 meters consistently but most folks who talk about doing it as a strategy are full of crap. What I've noticed is that most times I get the drop on someone and they turn and kill me they have a high ping, usually in the 150 range. So what that tells me is there's some sort of lag or disconnect between what I'm seeing and what they're seeing or maybe I didn't even get the drop on them, maybe it just looks like I did, I don't know. There's this quote from Futurama, that goes like this, Fry is ultimately unable to kill the last alien. Game Over. The commander of the space invaders emerges from his ship and taunts his human adversary. "Instead of shooting where I was, you should have shot at where I was going to be!" he says. There are also those players that say you should lead people etc. etc, that strat is also much crap in my experience. I understand the thinking behind that but give me a break. Most times when I run into the players I know are good there's a good .5 - 1 second, assuming neither person gets the drop before the outcome is decided. There's not much room in this game for head shots and leading the person. I know there are people that can do it, and my hats off to them but for the rest of us mortals I suggest putting the cross-hair center mass and pulling the trigger as quick as you possibly can.

Re: Who's Faster on the Trigger
I have a key on my mouse programed just to crouch and I agree it does help. Maybe the really good players just use cover and concealment to check things out and then come up firing. I tend to look for the action and then rush in. That does make me an easier target granted but I think that in a ConQ game sitting on your ass waiting for it to come to you is boring...I will work on my aim...unless I have my shotty...JJ

Re: Who's Faster on the Trigger
Shoot through the scope when ever possible, you are more accurate. Kneel and scope, long range should be single shot, short range fire in 3-5 round bursts. Until you get used to it, aim a bit low, at the knee and let the gun "walk" up. A 3-5 round burst will essentially put one in the knee, 2 center mass(abdomen and chest), 1 in the head, and if fired a fifth it will go over thier head.
The other option is to use the Clark and stay CQC, lol.

Re: Who's Faster on the Trigger
Heh, yeah, I'd say the knees are a bit low. If you feel the need to let the gun rise, center of mass is usually going to be your best bet, its also thankfully the biggest targert.

Re: Who's Faster on the Trigger
LOL! I figure if you are having that big a problem winning a one-on-one, may as well make sure you hit what you're shooting at. Also, If you have an issue with controlling the bursts and recoil then this will help compensate until you can get better. I have seen people aim at the chest and not get the kill, you just have to control the gun.
The knee is a reference point, didn't want to be crude............. ![]()
