What to do on a Friday night you ask...

Why not accept our invitation to a night of tactical fun and challenge, here are the details:

********

Server Information:

Code:
IP Address: 70.84.146.202
     Port: 17567
 Password: clanmod1

Who: You, our loyal TG 2142 fans.

What:Clan Mod Night!

Where: The Private TG 2142 server to start. Depending on turnout, we may add additional servers.

When: Friday, March 7th starting sometime in the morning or afternoon (We'll try to be as Euro friendly as possible).

Why: Because we love you, of course . Seriously though, Clan Mod is an interesting and intense new way (for many of us) to play 2142. The rounds are shorter, the unlocks are limited and there are NO vehicles. There are no rockets to keep your opponent's heads down, no Clarkes to sweep the corners with, and no netbat. That's right, no netbat. You need to rely on teamwork and communication to find and eliminate targets. You can't chuck an IDS on a flag and run off, you need to defend. No Otis drone to watch your six, that is now up to your squad mates. In a nutshell, Clan Mod locks you down to your level 1 unlocks only. Sounds horrible you say? We challenge you to try anyway.

We'll be playing "Flag by Flag" mode. PAC starts in their uncap and progresses up the map one flag at a time with the ultimate goal of capping EU out. PAC can not slip around and attempt to cap a flag out of sequence nor can EU reclaim flags out of sequence. Revives are still essential and grenades have new meaning. And all this while learning how to really use your Assault Rifle and cover. And as much as it pains me to say it, a sniper can actually have an impact on your team, but if you have too many you'll be at a significant disadvantage.

So, if you've been thinking about what it was like to play 2142 before everyone had their unlocks or you just want to play 2142 a bit differently, I encourage you all to download the Clan Mod client (v3.0), install it, and let us know if you plan on attending.

Kit Details, for those interested:

Assault:
  • Krlov for PAC, Scar for EU
  • Herzog
  • Defibs

Support:
  • LMG
  • EMP Grenades
  • Personal Shield

Engineer:
  • Default AT rocket launcher
  • EMP Mine
  • Defussor

Sniper:
  • Default Sniper Rifle
  • APMs
  • RDX

All Kits:
  • 2 Grenages
  • Light or Heavy armor
  • Pistol
  • Knife

Please be aware, to participate you will need to install an additional mod. This will not work without the installation of this mod. The restrictions imposed on the mod to level 1 unlocks are only enforced when playing this mod. If you return to a vanilla 2142 server you will once again receive your unlocks.

Is the defussor for use when your squad leader gets all fussy at you for spawning in engineer?

Oh, and I won't be able to make this unfortunately -- skiing trip this weekend.

Do you have to jump through any hoops to install this? I mean like when you update to a beta version, you have to copy one of the folders if you want to play the normal version without uninstalling.

Not sure about this Friday, but i am interested in playing. sounds like a good challenge

No hoops. Pretty simple install actually. It does not modify the actual game files like a patch would.

Yep, like Lorax said, absolutely no hoops. You receive limited unlocks while playing Clanmod, but once you go back to the regular install (no hoops -- just use a different icon to open the game), all your regular unlocks are back.

Zho's in, obviously. We had a practice run at Clanmod for a couple of days on the 9th's server and it was a blast. For the people thinking this is too much of a bother, something wacky and a lot of work: you are wrong. It's a small download, painless install, and everything about your BF2142 install stays the same: you install additional files that you can play if you so desire. Honestly, every Clanmod round feels like a slug to the chest, like a bottle of hard liquor doped with speed. Join up.

While I won't admit to not having any good games, it's much tougher to do well. Increased challenge = increased fun. Bring your A-game, and jump in. I'll be there when I can.

Possibly the worst recruitment pitch I've ever seen

Re: What to do on a Friday night you ask...

Damn! I just made plans for Friday night......"cough, cough" Maybe I can change them. ClanMod is soooooooo much fun. Tactics and cover-fire are a must. Yes, cover-fire and situational awareness. You need to be cautious, can't run-&-gun with this mod. I think that playing this Mod truly brings out the best in your abilities. There are no crutches here!!
I will try to be there, but can't completely commit.
