Cure for the common "lost dvds"

Is there any?

I want to get back into the game but I have turned my house upside down twice over and can't seem to find them.

Is there any way to retrieve the game dvd other than buying a new copy.

My account still works just fine I just tried it at the game website.

Re: Cure for the common "lost dvds"

first, let me say, I AM IN NO WAY CONDONING OR SUGGESTING PIRATING.

IF, and i say IF you have your original cdkey, you can get a copy online or from a friend and use that to install. YOU MUST HAVE LEGIT CD KEY

now i have a digital download of bf2142 so not sure about the differences. BUt I did that for bf2 when i mangled the dvd

---edit---

If the dvd works like digital download and the key is built into an account, then just reinstalling and logging into it, should work

Re: Cure for the common "lost dvds"

If you still have your receipt or some other form of proof of purchase you might be able to call EA customer support and get the hookup from them. I've heard of people being able to obtain lost CD keys that way, but I'm not sure if they would actually send you the physical media or allow you to download the game.

It wouldn't hurt to try. The worst that could happen is they say no.

Re: Cure for the common "lost dvds"

If you have digital downloads now, DO NOT edit a CD Key that came with it since it does not promt you one during installation (atleast never does for me) however there are people who are now having the problem of using there friends digital download to install the game, and then going into the registery to change the CD Keys to allow them to use the copy seperately, but EA has started to lock accounts that change CD Keys in any way for digital copies for that account. IE Lock the entire account and all games associated with it.

Im not 100% sure if thats how it is working now, however I know thats what iv been told from several people.

Log into your account on the EA website, you had to register your CD key to play I believe. Its in the account details there.

Re: Cure for the common "lost dvds"

I knew I saw this

goto

https://account.ea.com/common/login....parsid=7895093

then log in under ur main bf2142 account

u will have to enter the pass once first screen then again

click my games

look at bottom

you will still need to get a copy of the dvd, to prevent piracy allegations, i will only say TORRENT

Do people really freak that much about piracy here? Compared to speeding through a school zone, piracy is a pathetically weak crime (in fact, it's not even really a crime - it's a civil matter, but whatever).

You already bought a copy of the game, so do whatever the hell it takes.

Grab a cracked .exe from Gamecopyworld if you already have it installed to fix that.

If not, just go grab a torrent. It'll ask for a key when you install, just go get it off your account page. Tadah. You'll probably still need a cracked .exe since you don't have the physical disk.

I pretty much do this with all my games. My San Andreas DVD disappeared quite a while ago, I have a burned DVD lying around here somewhere.

Ah copy protection - wasting everyone's time since 1991.

I highly doubt that, unless there's something really special about the digital download. The CD Key is the only unique identifier of a product, and changing that before you log in should be untraceable.

The amount of effort companies go through to suck money out of customers they treat like cattle probably costs more then it saves.

um makes no sense, the cdkey is bound to your id, just follow the above. If you really can figure it out, change the pass of ur ea account to something lame and temporary, send it to me and i'll get it for u lol. then change it back :P and i cant steal it cuz email addy cant be changed so u can just recover pass if i'm a @#$@#@$# and try to hjack :P

Re: Cure for the common "lost dvds"

I finally got it installed.

EA basically told me to go f**** myself in not so many words. So I just dled a torrent and installed it with the key on the support site.

Downloaded and installed the patch, but now I am having an issue. I have tried 3 different cracks for the .exe but with all I get the "You are not connected to the internet" message when I try to go online on the game. Anyone know a confirmed one to work with the patched version of the game?

check gamecopyworld

i use their service because i play several games that require a cd in and imo thats not realistic so i just go that route and leave my disks in their case.
