I am just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this on TG servers. I have good ping but the game is like a slide show. I know it's not my system or network because I switched to a different server and all was fine.

Before I disconnected I asked an admin if TG's server provider is Wolfservers because I've had this problem before on servers hosted by this provider. I think it had to do with the way a box was shared or something like that. The problem was fixed by Wolfservers but it was a while ago so I only have a vague recollection of the details. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

I like what I've seen of TG and I'd like to settle here but if I can't play...you know. I'm guessing that if anyone comes across this they might not stick around but I'm just wondering if I am alone in this or if others are enduring the same problem.

I would venture to say that you are not alone, but I do not have a problem. I consistently have a pind of 18 or 20 and the game runs smoothly. Once in a while there may be a spike, but I just attribute that to lag. I almost always play in our server, 99.9% of the time and have no issues.

Not me. My ping is anywhere from 70-130 and lag isn't a problem even for my antiquated system .

The server itself lags sometimes. My ping is usually around 45~60, most of time I have no problems, but when I do experience lag, others also experience it.

Perhaps another app you have running?

Funny thing is the other day I was playing on a server where my ping was around 150 - 170 and it was silky smooth. Here the opposite happened...nice ping but laggy as hell.

Nope, I shut everything off to play. I have 19 or 20 background tasks on XP SP2 and most of those you either can't or shouldn't turn off anyhow. As for the pr0n, my pr0n is sacred and always has the highest process priority: Realtime! No lag there. Consistently high FPS.

I can run Crysis at Very High at about 20-30FPS, but BF2142 gets choppy.

It's not you, it's not the server, it's not the internet. It's the engine. Whatever engine the BF games have been on is simply atrocious.

I recently bumped up my RAM, and while my computer is less than capable of running games at high settings, 2142 has never been a problem in terms of my end. If anything, I believe it is a server issue as we've had several problems in the past with lag. While crashes aren't too out of the ordinary, there was a long period of time when the game would show players randomly having 1023 ping, but would still have the game running as it usually did.

If you have any real issues with connection though, contact an admin. The game's less than perfect, but it's still fun.

Same sort of ping as Daithi.....70 - 150ish.

Sometimes get the slideshow effect but not very often.
