A couple noob questions...

Hi! I have been wondering a couple things about 2142 and I figured this would be a good place to ask them.

Here's my questions:

-What is base raping?
-What is RDX whoring?
-Can you drive titans?

Thanks for coming to the website to ask! Let me get started on the answers.

Almost every other person outside of TG will give you a different answer. Here the answer is a little complicated. TG allows anyone to enter the UCB (uncapable base, the one that is not possible to turn to your side.) if they are there to blow up the commander's assets, or support someone who is there for that reason. We do not allow people entering the UCB to kill (unless they are shot at first, or are killing engineers who are repairing the assets), steal vehicles (except a jeep to escape) or harass the commander.

This usually refers to throwing rdx near you and detonating it immediately to kill people in a large radius. We at TG consider this a suicide tactic, even if you don't die, and do not allow it.

You can reposition the titan as commander. Most people prefer that you not move the titans too close together as it tends to create a lot of lag, and ruins some of the tactical nature of the game when people can pod from one titan to another.

RDX whoring usally means what Gloop said, But bear in mind you can chuck RDX over a small wall or ledge and blow people up. You must make every atempt to not kill yourself and teammates. Even if getting yourself killed by the enemy, you may not kill yourself or a teammate to detonate your RDX. Mistakes happen and even I blow myself up and sometimes my squad, make it a best practice in your late game. Your better off playing assault w/defib until you get the hang of things on TG.

Re: A couple noob questions...

Ok, so basically it's trying to blow people up with no regard for your own life.

Re: A couple noob questions...

Yes. Rdx, especially on a ff off server, is almost impossible to stop because the explosion is so large and fatal. We don't allow it because it is game breaking, and because when we can we like to adhere to realism. No soldier would want to be throwing bombs so close to himself without regard for his own life.

Re: A couple noob questions...

I have one more question. Is it ok to commit suicide with RDX in a situation where a real soldier might do so? Obviously it's unrealistic to blow yourself to pieces in order to kill one enemy infantry, but say you've just managed to strap RDX onto the bottom of an enemy battlewalker that is decimating your troops, and you don't want to take the time to get to safety. By detonating the packs you will die, but you'll destroy a powerful enemy weapon and save the lives of many other soldiers. Would it be ok to commit suicide in this situation?

Thanks.

Nope, You must get to safety. I kicked someone a hour ago for RDXing a tank and killing himself with it. Although this goes against balance at that moment, you can spawn a whole party of engineers to counter-act that balance. It's goes back to the point that suicide tactics are hard to counter. Even a walker with a suicidal recon has trouble to defend itself.

Both overall, The realistic call was made and outlawed this tactic. While we are fighting over resourses, We had wars over resources and still didn't resort to kamikazis. Maybe if PAC one day was pushed to the brink of destruction in a new booster like Japan in WWII. But I think EA isn't going to make anymore for BF2142.

Ok, thanks for the info.

Yeah, I wish they'd release more content, but I just don't see it happening.

Re: A couple noob questions...

I think we'd allow you to commit suicide for your team if it meant something. Unfortunately, you die and respawn all the time, so that isn't going to happen.

Yeah, I noticed that. They're all I Am Legend DVD ads for me.

Re: A couple noob questions...

With reguards to the RDX thing. I've definatly made the choice to kill myself. There have been a few times as a recon where I decide to go RDX walker/tank/apc that is causing a lot of trouble. I commit to running out there, things are going fine. I get the RDX on, or am finishing up putting it on. At this point, I NEVER blow myself up, I ALWAYS try to run away. However, there have been cases where I have been escaping, I've taken a few steps and I see an assault jump out, or the armor sees me...something like that. At this point, I KNOW I'm dead, I have the detonator out but I'm not far enough away. Usually I wait till my life is about 20-10ish. Ultimatly I choose to blow the RDX and atleast do something for my team other than waste a ticket. That being said, I never run out when in situations where I don't think (atleast at the time) that I can escape. If only everything always worked out as I'd planned

Re: A couple noob questions...

I'm of the same mind as Guardian (but unlike him, I spend much less time behind the scope of a sniper rifle ) when it comes to RDX. I'd rather make sure I'm clear before setting off the explosives, but I'll make an exception to the rule if it seems the odds are against me. On the other hand, a well-placed squad of half engineers and half assault-medics can do as much if not more than that single Recon and not waste the ticket in the process.
