Just a heads-up from Vortex

I'm going in for some emergency dental work this afternoon, which is why I will probably be on the battlefield earlier than normal. Unfortunately, since I am anticipating that there will be surgery involved, I will probably not be talking much. I apologize in advance to those who may wind up playing with me tonight and won't get to hear my wonderful (sarcasm, FYI) voice.

The morse code is the way to go. Just use one of those things that beep when you push the button.

Re: Just a heads-up from Vortex

Hope you feel better soon, Vortex! I had my wisdom teeth out in November, so dental work is still a recent, painful memory for me.

Re: Just a heads-up from Vortex

Well, I have returned. Problem isn't a wisdom tooth - turns out a back molar is giving up the ghost. Of course, the dental company wants to charge me in the vicinity of $7,000 (after insurance and all) to do all the work they suggested - a few teeth pulled, a partial upper denture, and a lot of root canals and crowns.

So I can talk still, but I have a lot on my plate and it's hard to swallow (proverbially).

Re: Just a heads-up from Vortex

Whew--that's a lot of money! And a lot of dental work. My surgical wisdom tooth extraction was about $1,500, of which I paid about $380, just to give you a frame of reference for costs elsewhere.

Re: Just a heads-up from Vortex

When I got my wisdom teeth removed, I ended up without general anesthetic to save a little money. It was an interesting experience. I got local anesthesia around my mouth so I didn't feel any pain, but I did feel all of the vibration from the drilling, and the intense pressure the surgeon was applying to my jaw. It felt like he was putting all his weight on whatever diabolical instrument he was forcing into my mouth.

Re: Just a heads-up from Vortex

I had four fillings and a root canal done without anesthetic. The dentist put the anesthetic in the wrong spot but no one believes me. You'll be fine.

Re: Just a heads-up from Vortex

Yea, last summer I got some major surgery done on my mouth! I'm actually still paying it off, about 18500$! Had a few major issues, no enamel and my gums lacked flouride, so we did a gum transplant, brand spanking row of fake teeth on the bottom, they shiny like them actor types in those movies!! And about three days worth of valume, an IV, and a lot of sedation! Now I take care of my teeth
