Re: a few questions

Another good idea is to let your squad know that you're new to the game. People will have nearly infinite patience with a new player if they _know_ you are a new player.

Letting your squad mates know you are new will let them know not to use too much jargon and to explain clearly what they want you to do. For instance you may or may not be familiar with "holding spawn" from BF2 but its where you delay spawning into the game, and typically you will spawn on your squad leader. If you are new the SL can explain how to do this.

Once you get the game, come check out the server and keep an eye out for a "Learn TG" squad. If there isn't a "Learn TG" squad, the next best thing is a squad lead by someone with the |TG| tags. Let them know that you're new and I'm sure they will take you under their wing.

Re: a few questions

Just to clarify number 5 a bit, BF 2142 is based on the same engine as BF2 therefore is not designed for multi-core processors. You will see a performance increase but that is due to background processes running on your second core that 2142 would have to fight with on a single core chip.

My computer specs are: Microsoft Windows Vista - Home Premium Edition (x32). I have a nVidia MCP61 chip set. Somethin is a AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5200+ CPU:0. My video card is a NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE nForce 430.

In other words, it says:
Model: a6223w
Rating: 3.o windows experience index
Processor: Amd Athlon (tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5200+ 2.60 GHz
Memory (RAM): 2942 MB
System Type: 32-bit Operating System
...... what i am basically asking is, will my computer run battlefield 2142? it runs bf2 perfectly good on low graphics. (if you need anymore info just ask, ill try to find out).

Re: a few questions

I bet you could run on low settings with a low resolution. the graphics card is a little lacking but I bet it would run.

its true what ped said, a higher clocked single core will run the game better than a lower clocked C2D.

So i could probably run it on low graphics? Right now im running BF2 on like low and it runs fine so would it work to run it like that?

Here are two handy pages from Total Gaming that give a lot of info on ranks and unlocks.

Unlocks: http://totalgamingnetwork.com/bf2142page.php?do=unlocks
Ranks: http://totalgamingnetwork.com/bf2142page.php?do=ranks

In fact, there's a ton of info there along the left hand side.

cheers

Re: a few questions

O, i see, so to unlock rockets for example, you have to unlock the shotgun and netbat helmet. ic. So what are the best to unlock? what collum? Or just unlock them as you want until you have all of them? (Do you get 1 unlock per rank up?)

Re: a few questions

Can this be a permenant topic in the general discussion forum "I have a question?"

Here is mine: what are the best ways to be effective with the gernade and rockets? The reason I ask is because it takes me three rockets to kill.

Re: a few questions

Foxtrot,

There are lots of useful posts on the rockets, but no discussion would be complete without a viewing a Bommando's rocket montage
There's a more instructional video at but it mostly focuses on air-burst, and doesn't go into hitting moving targets or effective use of objects such as overhangs or the ground to detonate your rockets.

If you see me online I'd be happy to pass along some pointers in game.

Re: a few questions

Great post, Zot.

I love Bommando's rocket video - it's very motivational.

If you enjoy that one, you should also be sure to check out Lyra's companion piece - http://youtube.com/watch?v=LTWvESNUpQE&feature=related
