Battlefield 1942 (Thats right, Nineteen-Fourty-Two!)

I don't know if any of you ever played 1942, but it was a great game! I have recently been craving some classic action. I am installing right now and wondered if there was anyone else here who has the game and might be interested in playing.

I'd reinstall it if enough TGers wanted to play together.

Re: Battlefield 1942 (Thats right, Nineteen-Fourty-Two!)

'Twas the first PC game I ever bought. *wipes away tears*

Never played it past the silly single player mode. I'd love to try it out with some of TG's finest, if we could get some together.

I think it's still installed, I'll check when I get home in 3 hours or so.....

What a cool thought PromQueen!!!

Never liked it too much, but WW2 gives me gas.

Desert Combat was nifty but it quickly lost appeal on its own (mainly because every patch at the time was more interested in cramming more vehicles in the maps than balancing and fixing the ones that already were there). I mean, A-10 cluster bombs? C'mon now.

If I can figure out why it won't install properly, i'll be there in a heart beat.

Re: Battlefield 1942 (Thats right, Nineteen-Fourty-Two!)

I loved Desert Combat, and particularly loved the Apache Wars servers. They were tweaked to fast-spawn lots of Apaches so that helo whores could get their fill. A lot of times I would jump into a jeep and ride out with my Stinger to take advantage of the "target-rich environment". It was a blast.

The biggest problem I had with DC was that I loved flying transports to support HALO drops and I hated the lack of an attitude indicator when I got too high to see the ground. It was too easy to get disoriented without instruments and I'd end up flipping over and pancaking.

I don't like vanilla '42, but give me some Forgotten Hope and I'm in heaven.
