    Thanks elkad!

Thanks for a very enjoyable introduction to 2142

I had to create another trooper because my first soldier had a handle that didn't suit the TG-join so I've started again as the ultimate rookie but on the other hand it gives me a chance to pick you chaps' brains about which unlock tree to go for please? I bet I picked all the wrong upgrades up to where I was with dansaint1971 before joining this mature battlegroup. Which does what it says on the tin, fosters teamwork, very pleasing

Sorry I couldn't get VOIP send on (yet), I'm trying to finish up with a Vista x64 setup that will allow a mike but you probably know that the mike is tricky with no DirectSound under Vista. My hardware mixer (RF cans) and alternatively a Creative headset are giving me grief but I hope you picked up my low-bandwith text line comms (I use TS flying with a virtual RAF squadron twice a week- so I'll get there)

For now I need to 100% ID an enemy or I hold fire, knowing that 10 kills and 1 teamkill aren't as cool as 2 kills and no teamkills. In armour battles with a Commander spotting I expect more kills in these cautious early days at TG Boot Camp

Thanks TG team, superb job at bringing mature people to the battlefield. And what a difference it makes to work in a virtual fire team in this amazing ground combat game...

I can see a Dalek in there btw. Exterminate- copy that wilco

I killed one of our moderators sorry about that mate it was a flukey shot- but you killed me and with high interest by return I should have remembered the wise words about not poking around in wasps' nests lol

    Welcome to TG!

You should work on unlocking defibs and rockets, those are most used and is a great way to get useful fast here at TG.

You should also try to get your VOIP working, the game and teamwork gets even better with good use of comms.

Other than that squad up with regulars and say you are new. We are a polite bunch and will try to help you oust as best we can.

Looking forward to playing with you online!

Agreed--rockets and defibs are a staple around here. I unlocked the engineer tree first, so I was a bit behind on that (and felt it). Even if you don't work toward rockets immediately, go for the defib; it makes you very valuable to your squad and your team if you can revive your teammates. And occasionally use it to kill someone on the other team.

    Welcome!

Oh, and you might want to dig around in the tech support forum for some help with the VoIP issues. Someone else has probably had the same problems you anticipate and has likely posted a fix.

    Thanks both!

    Defib and rockets - wilco.

I was wondering why corpses weren't reviving when I threw a medpack at them doh!

...why does this not surprise me? Trust me, Arithea, we all felt it when you unlocked the Engineer tree first.

To paraphrase Star Wars: "I feel a great disturbance in the Force. It is as if a million Walkers were all Pilum'ed and destroyed in the same instance."

    (Yes, I jest)

Dan - welcome aboard! Looking forward to seeing you on the server and getting a few rounds in, once my schedule returns to a little less hectic.
