Re: What's next?

Id like to see improvements in 2142. How about this? The United States gets drawn in and there are US maps like NYC and Chicago, LA...etc. How cool would it be to run around NYC burning and pillaging! Well see i guess

That really wouldn't fit the lore though. Chicago and New York would've been buried under the ice in no time. Most of the US is at a rather high latitude. In fact by previous ice age ice advances, most all of the US would be one huge glacier.

The US would pretty much just pack up and move to Mexico at any rate. The entire reason for the war is because Europe has so damn many little countries that there's bound to be conflict. The US just has Canadians to worry about, and they're all popsicles by then anyway.

OFP2 has nothing to do with OFP1 though. There's an extremely high chance it's just going to be a mainstreamed shooter.

OFP2 has as much to do with OFP1 as any other second in a line game. Different engine for sure but that is often the case from first games to there remakes.

And as to it being a mainstreamed shooter I am guessing that you have not been following it, it is anything but mainstream in the level of detail you can get. Let alone the Codie promise that they will release the code to the game so that players can program there own maps and missions. OFP2 is said to be a war simulation just like OFP1 was.

From what I been hearing when you shoot your bullets will have a drop to them like they do IRL so that when shooting long range you need to aim above the target so your bullet arc's in to what your aiming at. The ability to pick lighter or heavier bullets and many other options.

The real problem is that it is not out till winter…

I'll probably keep playing this, then maybe move to BF3 once it comes out. What I would really like is a complete sequel to 2142. It's a really cool setting, and if they would build on this game, improve it and add a storyline, I would be so happy.

That actually gives me an idea. What if these areas were somewhat populated with civilians and if you killed them you lost points. I don't think it's realistic to implement but it would add something interesting to the game.

Sadly, because it's EA, this will never happen. The only 'best' thing I can really see happening with BF3 is actually getting a new engine (honestly, the current engine is terrible ).
EA can't make a MMO game? Why couldn't they? It would fall in much better to their new marketing modelof play-to-play you see with their other titles.

What civilians?

They are all by this point:

- Enlisted in the PAC or EU military.

or

- DEAD, people tend to die by the hundreds of thousands when hit with an Ice Age. The primary means?

They were turned into popsicles...

Re: What's next?

Meh I'm playing TF2 but as Lyra said I fear I may start to get bored of it soon. The possible new map in 1.5 could be fun though *prays for another infantry map*

EA is making an MMO. It's called Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning and is set to be one of the best MMOs yet released for those who like PvP. EA Mythic (formerly known as Mythic Entertainment - the people who brought us Dark Age of Camelot, a game that was one of the definers of the MMO genre and showed us what PvP could be in an MMO) is the studio developing it, and I have the utmost faith they will release a stellar, relatively bug-free game (it's an MMO after all) despite the EA tag.

.... except for the fact that not a single developer from the original game is involved in it?

And it's also an Xbox 360 title, which automatically means it's going to be both dumbed-down *AND* suck.

I never said anything about an MMO. I mentioned Planetside's gameplay, not the 'pay to play' BS that is an MMO. MMOs automatically suck.

Planetside was an exception as far as MMOs, I suppose, because MMOs are designed to tease you with carrots and keep you chasing the perpetual treadmill of gear.

Planetside really didn't have that. A BR20 guy with Heavy Armor could drive the same tank as a BR6 guy.
