Re: BF2142 Patch 1.50 anncounced !
Anzio, we all know the name of the new map, but not many people know what Anzio is really. And i guess i should say the "possible" new map with the 1.5 patch will be Anzio. Anzio is a location about 33 miles south of Rome. There have been several battles fought there including a beachhead landing during WW2 that went so swiftly and was unexpected that the allied forces captured their goal by noon instead of a full day. The landing was an effort to flank the germans and by taking Rome disrupt their communication and supply lines. The general area has train tracks, rivers, beach, urban environments, some open terrain and marsh lands. i found alot of maps detailing the military strategy for the offense and defense of anzio but i cant post links in the forums yet. its an interesting area with sections that could accomodate all styles of play, infantry and vehicle, but doesnt seem like any one way could win the map which could try to "force" a little more teamwork, which could make it very popular here at TG.
hey look a link to the maps and military book about Anzio

Re: BF2142 Patch 1.50 anncounced !
There is no large scale conflict games based in the Americas because there is no conflict for land in the Americas. One does not have the massive cultural variation combined with the population density and deeply rooted historical 'disagreements' that one finds in Europe. Wars in Europe have happened, are happening, and will happen again.
A large-scale military conflict on North American native soil just isn't realistic. Who would really... really want to do that?
Damonte just warns everyone to keep an eye on those shady Antarcticans. They may look all proper and polite in their fitted tuxedos... but their real intentions are far more sinister.

...they're not worth fighting over? j/k
I think there should be a geographically correct map of a major city in Europe... that would be fun.
"Ok squad, we're gonna move up and take position in this building while that tank takes out the enemy in that building."
"Hey, that tank just blew my house up!"
Would be pretty much impossible to make, but it would be so fun!

Sweet! Hopefully this new patch will bring me back into the fold. I'd like to see some new content, maps, etc bring me back into playing 2142 on a regular bases.

Hahaha yeah, I was gonna do this a few years ago, but thought better of it once I realized how ridiculous school policies on crap can be.
