I'm not sure if you're serious or not, but Engineers are already the most theoretically overpowered class in the game. I wouldn't mind Engineers if their weaponry took some damn skill to use, but between the guided missiles, motion mines, and the Pilum, I really wonder what the hell DICE was thinking. I'm not sure why in every FPS, Engineer has to be synonymous with the 'unskilled noob' class.

I know someone's going to resent that comment, but honestly, even my grandma could "own some bitches" with how ridiculously easy Engineer weaponry is. Everything they have is 'smart'. It's fire and forget, or homes in, or in the one exception, the Pilum, it's so overpowered it's way beyond the shallow learning curve it has. Hitting the backside of a tank with the Pilum is an unexpected, untraceable, one-shot kill, that also puts the tank out of the game for a while. A sniper has to hit a tiny head of a moving, jumping, dodging target, and all he can do is critically wound him. What's the deal with that? I'm fine with the Pilum not having an alarm for the vehicle crew, but it should never be able to one-shot kill anything heavier than an FAV for that reason. It's pretty much the equivilent to a Zeller being a portable Rorsche for anti-infantry purposes.

Re: Unlock Ideas

It would be nice if recons had 1 special ..hmm .. bullet or emp grenade that disables only the weaponry (not movement) of enemy vehicles.

And about the engineers, nerf'em a bit and THEN give 'em the imp. repair tool !

But seriously, support also needs something vs. vehicles.I mean COME ON, they have ONLY EMP grenades ..

Neither does Assault. Rockets only hurt FAVs. They might hurt gunships too, but it's not like it's exactly easy, and the damage would be minimal at any rate.

Re: Unlock Ideas

Well assault has a role SIMILAR to a medic.Sure, he revives, but he isn't really to be kidding with.

Support is more of a Rambo type, and he SHOULD have something to destroy vehicles, unlike assault (which would make it the overpowered class who shoots/revives/heals/destroys VEHICLES !!! ) ...

Re: Unlock Ideas

Recon:

[1] - FLIR Imager - A helmet-mounted device that requires a short time to install and remove. The imager will show the entire world in infrared, highlighting infantry, vehicle engines, and other heat sources in vivid detail.

[2] - Targeting Laser - An attachment to all four Recon weapons, the targeting laser is only visible to enemy troops as a small dot. To friendly troops, the entire beam is highly visible and where it's pointed at is indicated on the NetBat system, including range. The indicator consists of a second reticule that will indicate where they need to aim to get their current weapon to land on-target, allowing precision fire from moving vehicles, artillery, or grenades. The targeting laser can also override both man and vehicle-borne guided missile systems if the operator so desires, allowing computer guidance systems to take over and home in on the laser designated target.

Assault:

[3] - Composite Armor - Dramatically reduces damage done. Protects the front and back of the torso only.
[4] - AL/AAK-11 Advanced Target Imager - An upgrade to the helmet-mounted HUD system, the ATI, when turned on, in addition to a native zoom, will provide a plethora of information about targets it is given time to scan.

Engineer:

[5] - Field Weaponry Upgrade - A field upgrade to any vehicle that will increase the effectiveness of its weapon systems, including the size of its magazine, the range and reloading speed of the primary weapon, and more.
[6] - Field Armor Upgrade - A field upgrade to any vehicle that will dramatically increase survivability by armoring weak points and overall durability. Extra weight will decrease the top speed of the vehicle somewhat.

Support:

[7] - TAPAS Smoothbore Autocannon - Using both unlock slots, one for the weapon and one for its ammunition magazine, the TAPAS requires a setup time before it can be used. The TAPAS is a slow-firing 50mm weapon that causes devastating damage to both infantry and medium vehicles. Once the TAPAS ammunition is depleted, it can only be reloaded by a new ammo magazine from another Support kit or a Resupply Crate.
[8] - Heavy IPS - While the power source is still vulnerable to precision sniper fire, the entire device is now dramatically more powerful. Capable of withstanding withering damage and covering a larger area, the HIPS is designed to overcome the many shortcomings of its predecessor.

General:

[9] - Electronic Hardening - Your helmet and reticule systems are hardened against EMP, reducing the severity of EMP damage.
[10] - AN/PAM-23 ICMS - One of the most powerful pieces of equipment in the field and only available to Squad Leaders with at least 4 members in their squad, the Internal Countermeasure System is a deployable ECM system that provides superior protection to those within its radius. While interference with helmet-mounted HUD systems is minimal, the system adversely affects the performance of more sensitive, unshielded systems in the following pieces of equipment: DS-22 Decoy, IT-33 Camouflage, FLIR Imagers, PK-74 Rockets, Advanced Targeting Imagers, CM3-N Radar Grenades, II-29 Motion Mine, all forms of guided missile systems, PDS-1 Vehicle Sensor, IDS-1 Infantry Sensor, A12 Sentry Gun, IPS, Heavy IPS, and the Otus and Accipiter Drones. Missiles may veer widely off course or detonate early, detection methods may cease functioning or return erroneous data, and other systems will malfunction from either extremely degraded performance to complete system failure.

PS: I know those pictures were of Support. Hush.

Re: Unlock Ideas

Another idea I had was for a "Black Hole" Grenade. It implodes and pulls all nearby players, vehicles, bombs, mines, everything towards it.

Re: Unlock Ideas

A really good unlock for support that others have thought of would be a riot shield. Its like the standard shield and you hold it in your left arm. If crouching it should cover your whole body except for head. You could not use your main gun with it, but you could equip a pistol or grenade to use.

Re: Unlock Ideas

I love Uraniums ideas! some might be a bit over the top, like the countermeasure system (altough with a low chance of working, it might become more balanced.. not 100% I mean)
For support, the TAPAS is amazing! A way to down those deadly APCs (altough it would take some heavy shooting).. Only tanks and walkers should be safe from the TAPAS fire! And the ammo should be a crate you'd have to drop on the ground, making the TAPAS a weapon that can only be deployed once. That whould also take care of the taking ammo from others supports... 1 takes a TAPAS and some ammo, another guy brings a crate of ammo and a shield, and you have an almost self suficient Machine gun nest to cover choke points! (still somewhat vulnerable to granade fire, but the second guy is there to take care of that.
The heavy IDS I dont like so much.. as it has been stated before, too much detection is one of the main issues right now.. but a riot shield? how cool would that be for Titan assaulting?? couple that with another support guy with a shotgun/RDX and a medic with smoke/defib, and you have quite a breaching team ^^

One of my pictures disappeared... sad

Bah. At least it was the easier one to make.

RE: The ICMS - the idea is to remove dependence on advanced technology and unlocks. Every kit is affected roughly equally (actually Engineers are kinda hosed, but I despise that kit anyway).

This would be a great update to the current IPS shield. Instead of just holding it undeployed when you pull one out, you deploy it on your hand and carry it around as a mobile shield, providing limited mobile cover for your squad. It would have to be larger, though.

That reminds me of Silver's SMOKE Squad on Tunis, he was bombing Emp Nades while we rocked the Smoke Nades.... It was effective very.... I was literally able to run between six guys, mowing them down without taking much damage!

I want a Cat Launcher on my Voss!!.. Come to think of it, I want a Voss on my Cat Launcher!

Seriously, I think an unlock that is really needed in Battlefield 2142, mostly because of how easy it is to be spotted. (I mean no matter what you do the enemy always know where you are) Even the Decoy) But yea, the game needs a Squad Leader drone that masks ALL the members of a squad. Let's say if they are within 25 meters. But you are still physically seen. Someone wants to spot you, has to kill Spankies sister!

Example: Reaper spawns cloacked Recon with the Cloaking Drone. He runs up the middle of Fall of Berlin, due to everyone's lack of situational awareness, and him buying their love off with cheap thrills and long walks on the beach, he gets through. In turn, the rest of the squad spawns in now knowing they aren't in physical sight. Not a single person/commander will ever know they are marching straight for Outpost. You'll actually be able to take the long route knowing once the commander does a SAT Track, he STILL won't see you, even if he manually scans. Unless he physically zooms in and relays the info!

It'll actually add Surprise, Ambush, and True Sneaky into the game!

Re: Unlock Ideas

Its a nice idea Azura, but maybe keeping you off the SatTrack might be a bit too much.. It would be different if the commander saw a really faint red spot on the sat track scan (so if he is really focused somewhere else he wont see it) and as in your idea, you still cant be spoted, so he would have to verbaly report the information to the Squad Leaders.. and as the SLs wont have the big red spot behind the building, it still gives you some sneak abilities
