Teamspeak etiquette

All TG rules and codes of conduct follow over to the TS server.

Etiquette should be in standing at all times in public channels. If your visiting a private channel, etiquette stands until your breifed on private channel's conduct.

Feel free to discuss the 2142 side of TS etiquette here.

I don't think there's much 2142-specific about it. The chat between rounds is fun, and it's nice to be able to do an occasional "BOOSH!" when you blow up someone's tank, but beyond that, it's really hard to concentrate. Whether you're commanding, squad leading, or even just ground pounding, you've got at least one other person talking to you over VoIP. Adding another five in the TS channel just makes things unintelligible. Thanks for the reminder, Eroak.

If it can't be answered very briefly, then please by all means ask if an admin can join you in a private channel to help. The community channel is not for conversations, but the admins are also there to help, so don't be afraid to ask one specifically. I'll get cranky with someone who asks any question on TeamSpeak default channels which is answered in a sticky within the BF2 forums or is in the announcements forum. I will always respond if someone asks me to join them in another channel however.

TS is a great community builder. It can be lots of fun to chat a bit between rounds etc. But as soon as the next round starts its warmup, TS should be free from idle chatter. squad announcements and requests are very appropriate during warmup, but not much else. I routinely turn the volume down on TS during the pre round warmup so I can concentrate.

For reference, you can bind keys to lower, raise and mute the volume of TS. I will post a short tutorial of it in a day or two if no one can find one sooner.

hopefully the chatter in TS during rounds will calm down. If I am squad leading I often have to turn off TS so I can lead my squad. This means I do not hear rules violation reports when I am in game.

So lets keep the chatter down during gameplay and warmup.

I think I've been guilty of too much chatter in TS lately. I'm not alone. For my part I'll stick to the pre-round organizing and post round celebration. Good reminder Eroak!

I don't really mind the chatter, as I play it off a separate computer from 2142, but I can see how it would be annoying. I try not to say anything during a round that's not neccesary.

Thanks for the reminder. I also sometimes get caught up talking and such during "warm-up," I'll work to keep that chatter to a minimum.

Set up a PUSH TO TALK > WISPER keybind to Eroak. Then continue to sing songs into his ear about magical ponies and rainbows.

I usually carry the mic into the bathroom so everyone can try to guess what sound is being made.

This is a great post, in the past I have had my "+" key set to mute and unmute TS for the simple fact I already have too many voices in my head and I don't need anymore competing for my attention in game. The keybinds really are not difficult to figure out once you simply try them. Thadoctah mentioned to me that you are probably not using the arrow keys in game, and for me he was correct so I set the up arrow to inc volume and the down arrow for dec volume, then I set up a whisper key,

now I'll just have to see if it works

I get the guy on TS talking and my squad member talking at the same time not that often, but TS is louder than the VOIP. Or the commander will be talking and my squad member talks, and command is louder than the squad member. OR, I get all three and can't hear a dang thing. That is rare to get the 3 people talking at once though.

I am quite chatty on the second server channel, but not on the main server.

Everyone who uses TeamSpeak can and should setup a few commonly used keybings including but not limited to

TS Volume Up 10%
TS Volume Down 10%
TS Mute
TS Away
TS Channel Up
TS Channel Down

Also, a keybind that jumps you right to the 2142 channel is nice incase you get yourself lost going up and/or down.
