Ahh yea, good ol battlefield.... It's like an old rusty truck, some parts fall off but well it's still a blast to drive!! But it's better to drive with a friend (TG) than, well, driving with bots...

FYI, I passed this thread along to someone at DICE. They appreciated the sentiment and thanked you/us for being part of the community.

Re: Props to Dice and EA

I played EQ for 6 years and Action Quake 2 for 5 years. Then BF2142 for over 2 years now. Thats my top 3 of all time for taken my real life away.

There are bugs that do need to be taken care of. But almost any game has that at some point. FPS are on the lower list compared to componies MMOs with paid subscriptions.

Re: Props to Dice and EA

I wuv battlefield games (even though BF2 and BF2142 are the only ones I've played)

They can suck at times, but overall, there's a good experience to be had.

Danke, DICE.
Merci, EA.

Thumbs up Re: Props to Dice and EA

Hello,

DICE and Valve (and id Software, Bioware, Blizzard, Relic, Illusion Softworks, Bohemia Studios, Will Right, Sid Mayers, Ion Storm, 2015, Infinity Ward, just to name a few more...) are the kind of game developers that have opened new windows to gaming by the means of true innovation.

It is not easy to create such a complex product like a computer game.

For these specific developers, I believe that the value of flaws compered with the total product value is minor.

And it is more complex than just Software Engineering.

It's an Art and a Business.

As studios becomes bigger or get acquired by the big coprorations, art and quality could fade a bit. Not allways but happens.

I believe that DICE quality performance under EA umbrella is fair, there are no major flaws in BF2142.

For sure there was and still are lot of issues to be fixed and my suggestion to DICE is to improve their Quality Assurance and to become more open to the community.

DICE is a part of a multinational organization, that's EA, and the desicion making process is very slow in such an environment.

So, even if DICE have all the will and means to promote quality or creativity, they are part of a behemoth structure that probably slows them down.

Kudos to DICE!

Regards.
