Lightbulb Ask the Admin

Question: we had a discussion on TS last night and couldn't come up with a definitive answer. We had a game that went down to the wire for tickets 4/4, 3/3, 2/2, 1/1. So I asked "when does your death count on the tickets?"

The reason I ask is because we made a decision in squad "if you die DO NOT respawn." PromoQueen noted [probably correctly] that he thought if you are killed in say a rail gun your death register immediately and therefore you should respawn. Can someone clear this up for me?
Thanks, Foxtrot6

Re: Ask the Admin

I haven't put it to the test really, but I've heard a few different things, first being that you loose a ticket upon spawning back in after dying, which I find hard to believe myself. The other being that you loose the ticket as soon as the timer runs out, regardless of whether or not you choose to spawn back in or not, which seems much more logical to me.

I personally think the second is the way it works, but again, I haven't tested it at all. I think the other version got started when the games got so close that one team didn't want anyone to spawn in and be a target for the other team, but again, just my opinion.

Test it out, if you like we can setup a server that only requires 2 people on to start and you can put it to the test and definitively tell us all how it really works .

Re: Ask the Admin

You loose the ticket when revive time runs out in 2142. In bf2, you lost the ticket when you spawned back in. The end of a round in bf2 often had squad leaders telling thier guys to hold spawn if the game was close and they would not gain anything by spawning in.

Re: Ask the Admin

If you are dead and reviveable but no one revives you within 15 seconds, your team loses a ticket in Conquest. Spawning in or not plays absolutely no role in this.

If you are dead and cannot be revived (ie. Rorsch, Pillum etc kills) your team loses a ticket instantly. Once again, spawning changes this in no way.

LET THE TRUTH BE KNOWN!!!

I'm glad someone brought this up, very important topic, by spawning in you provide one more defib or gun to bring the enemy down and keep the fight going.

Re: Ask the Admin

Possibly the confusion was due to BF2 but I believe pre1.4 spawning lost the ticket rather than dieing.

Re: Ask the Admin

The comments above are correct for BF2142. If you are critcially injured your ticket is removed when the time expires regardless of if you decide not to spawn in, if you decide to spawn in then obviously you lose it at that point. The only way to stop it is to be revived with defib.

Re: Ask the Admin

Remember any vehicle death is a insta-ticket. Some pilum/rail/mortor shots can be revived.

But on this topic. Don't kill 2 tickets by risking yourself for a hot revive. The only hot revive should be a downed SL. Clear everything else, then revive.

Good question.

I always thought it was that was because that was a strat used in BF2, it wasn't until someone informed me otherwise the other week that I learned how it worked.

I can't stand when people revive me in the line of fire. Sure, I admire your e-courage but, please, shoot the people who shot me first!

A lot of times this is a problem, but when a game gets down to a ticket race, or if it's a squad leader, sometimes it's good to go for the revive anyway to preserve the ticket loss for as long as possible even if it's likely you'll both die again immediately.

Still, if you have the time, clear the area. Throw a grenade on my body, I don't care. Just kill them and then come get me.

Sometimes I res people because I know I'm going to die because I have my fib out and theres not enough time to swith weapons back so I prop the guy up anyways and hope he gets a shot off.

Other times I'll prop the guy up for a .5 second distraction.

Other times, a meat shield.

Re: Ask the Admin

"Get me up"

"Let me lie"

The should-I? shouldn't I? equation might have these terms

Fear of being thought a coward so I must dive in when my squad leader or comrade is down, to revive her/him

Fear of being thought an idiot because I dived in when we're under fire only to die immediately from the same enemy targeting our position perhaps

Hmm

For newish troopers I mean, we haven't yet enough experience to know which mode our S/L requires at any given moment. So please forgive either failing
