Battle recorder

I'm new to BF2142 so don't critisize me. Well on to the question, can you record specific battles for personal use or do you have to be in the battle that they have on the list of battle recorded games?

The way the battlerecorder works is that it will save a record of all games which you have played on a server with the battle recorder function enabled. So no you can't a record specific battles for personal use, since all your battles are recorded, though you can choose which battles to download and use from your list.

Now since it's just a file, and if you have a specific match you didn't play but that you wanted to view you could find someone who played it and get the file from them.

I hope that answers your question...I found it a bit confusing as to what exactly you were asking.

Re: Battle recorder

Hmm not exactly sure of the question. You can view any matches you have the BF recorder file through the ingame program. If you wish top record it you will have to use WeGame (free) or Fraps ($$$). There are internet directories where ALL recorder files are kept from the various servers. I hesitate to post it because I do remember people talking about how only SMs should know the address (although it is publicly available if you look hard enough).

Re: Battle recorder

Vinman, this is how it works.

1. You need to play on a server that has Battlerecorder option enabled. Most do but some don't -- check before playing. You generally can't see what's happened during the rounds you haven't been on the server when those rounds happened. (Caveat -- see sc1ence's post below.)
2. Go to Community -> Battlerecorder. The list on the left are files you can download, the list on the right are files on your PC.
3. The list on the left is chronologically sorted -- first entry is the last round you played on a BR-enabled server.
4. Find a round you're interested in, click download. The files are *very* small compared to the actual video files -- BR files are game instructions -- in essence, they recreate the game so that you can see it from any angle you like. A video is a single perspective (usually what you see on your screen) and that's limited and doesn't tell the whole story.
5. Download the BR file to your PC and play it. This will load the map and start showing you the round as it occurred.
6. At this point, you can choose to follow a player (yourself for example) with a camera, or use free camera, speed up and slow down the action and all kinds of neat business.
7. You need an external program (fraps or wegame) to record the action as a video file (.wav, .avi). The BR files are the entire round -- that's a lot of things you don't want or need to show -- you just "tape" the important parts with fraps and use that to make your movie.

I hope that answers your question. It felt like you were looking for general advice on what BR did and how to record videos and not the questions you asked.
