Re: Titin Motion mining
the TG main server only runs conquest. the second server is a titan server but i rarely see anyone on it. i would like a few titan rounds with the TG fellas myself.

Re: Titin Motion mining
Ya. I don't know anything about running servers, but maybe it could have a couple NS at the end and a Titan in the beginning and maybe a little bit further in. But i get sad because I've played on the TG server a lot and ive played past minsk a couple of times, but it makes me sad because I have never played on Highway Tampa and it seems hard to make it to Minsk (i enjoy it even though few others do, i found a great way to break trhough the front line and live)

Re: Titin Motion mining
so far there is no ruling. If we find that something is exploited, unbalanced, abused, or greifing, we might make a change. But until then, it's fair game.
Counter is to just throw up some motion mine bait and hopefully to land it near the engie that placed it.The soldier formerly known as, Eroak.

Re: Titin Motion mining
I would say absolutely not. It's hard to find much a difference between a UCB and the Titan hangar bay.

Re: Titin Motion mining
Most of the servers that ive seen address this issue certainly do frown on it. It seems like an ultra cheap tactic to me, if i can even call it a tactic. I thought that the 1.40 patch fixed this in the same way that you cant drop an APM mine through to the hanger. Not sure of this fix or not, its not been a class i use often, but I have not heard much complaints of this for a while. I would never expect to see a TG server allowing this, that hanger is like an uncapable base like uranium said.
I would love to play some titan action with you guys, man titan really rocks when you have the team work that the Conquest server always has.

Re: Titin Motion mining
I personally don't think it should be allowed. In my opinion, it's like placing mines on the helipad, or the only exit to a mainbase. One MMB can fix it, but remember, not everyone has it unlocked (including me), so that's not always an option. With regard to JamesTerror's picture, remember, he is standing on a friendly titan. If it were an enemy, he would have to avoid standing on the shields (or he would die).
Slightly-off topic, but is standing above the hangar shields with a supply box and a SAAW, with the intention to kill enemy aircraft as they leave, a legal move?Last edited by westyfield; 04-23-2008 at 04:37 PM. Reason: added a comma (chameleon)

Re: Titin Motion mining
As to your off topic question, how would that be any different from standing outside of any UCB and shooting pilum shots at tanks leaving the UCB (if you consider the Titan an UCB)?
But the Titan is hardly an UCB. One possible way to win is to get inside of the titan and blow up the core, how is this an UCB?
Adapt. Yeah it may seem cheap, but if your Titan is being so overrun that people can sit on top and motion mine the hangar bay then maybe you need to change your objective and clean up the top of the Titan.A captain of the most awesome IHS ever and remember to burn before you pillage.

Re: Titin Motion mining
That's what I'm trying to say- I was asking if that was allowed on the server as I believe that shooting Pilums at vehicles leaving the UCB is not allowed. Sorry for not making that clear in my first post. I guess the titan is a grey area, because, like you say, part of the game is to get inside the titan.
(My only titan experience is from non-TG servers, so I don't know how much 'titan-raping' goes on here)

Re: Titan Motion mining
I think it is a reasonable tactic if your attacking or occupiing the titan. If you don't stop the gun ships then you end up meat soup all over the top of the titan if you have a beacon there.
The titan is not reaily a "non cap" where it can be taken out. and it's not the only spawn point few other places have as much aircraft but theres many options open to defenders to stop motion mines like motion mine bait, sniper rifles, RDX, glow balls or just going up and killing the eng via pod or walking up from the hanger deck also if you use the shields you may be able to get out in an air vehicle.
Up till the titans shields go down it is a non cap so before then no mines but after if your attacking I think it is needed to suppress the vehicles so you can move it to an infantry battle.
This is more like Pac mineing where the EU's walker pops up on Gib it sucks but if you let them get there and stay there then it is to be expected.
This is actualy permitted as long as your not attacking in to the UBC. Berlin, minsk, Gib. Many fights start with pack's back to the wall able to only attack out a narrow area or as in berlin theres places that if you cap a point the entire armor of the enemy needs to travel through your kill zone that can be held rather effectivly by a small number of people. As to your off topic question, how would that be any different from standing outside of any UCB and shooting pilum shots at tanks leaving the UCB (if you consider the Titan an UCB)?
