There has been a lot of talk about snipers and what they bring to the game. Generally they don’t bring enough to the game to be reasonable to play often. That is a shame because I like many others have a fun time sniping and trying to be the best.

I have been thinking of running a sniper versus sniper event, then it dawned on me that it would be nice to play a few of those types of fights hence forth I come up with best of the best.

Do you think you’re the best at what you do? Do you want to test it to see if you really are?

I am looking for how much interest there is in a few fights that would involve basically test your skill with only a few limited weapons. Most would require no vehicles or rail-guns also. Most would require that most classes be limited in their weapon selection on your honor. These are done to try something a bit different have some fun doing it and for a few people to get some bragging rights. The one with the largest number after deaths are subtracted from kills.

The 4 fights that would be in the Best of the Best would be:

Sniper BotB:
Played on a map with lots of hidy holes
Recon: Anything from class
Assault: any rifle only on single shot, smoke, pistol & healing hub nothing else (no revives or rockets)
Engineer: Cannot be engineer
Support: shield pistol and supply crate, yes that means that they suck
No vehicles or rail guns
No commander

Engineer BotB:
Played on a vehicle map
Recon: Cannot be recon
Assault: default rifle only, smoke, pistol & healing hub nothing else (no revives or rockets)
Engineer: Any engineer gear
Support: shield pistol and supply crate, yes that means that they suck
Any vehicles and rail guns
Commander but no orbi’s or emp

Shot Gunner BotB:
Played on a close in map
Recon: Cannot be recon
Assault: Shot Gun attachment & healing hub nothing else (no revives or rockets no rifles, shot gun only)
Engineer: Cannot be engineer
Support: Shot Gun, Pinger (IDS), supply crate, & shield
No vehicles or rail guns
No commander

Machine Gunner BotB:
Played on a midrange map
Recon: Cannot be recon
Assault: default rifle, healing hub & nothing else (no revives or rockets)
Engineer: Cannot be engineer
Support: Either MG, Pinger (IDS), supply crate, & shield
No vehicles or rail guns
Commander but no orbi’s or emp

The sniper comp. is really the only one that I think would actually adequately test abilities. The rest are just going to be twitch skills.

Well, I don't think I'm the best recon, but I DO think that I am one of the best snipers (not necessarily the best ofc), because I LOVE that role ...

But if there will be a competition, please, do NOT set it on the |TG| conquest server, because my ping is horrible there (at least for sniping)...

I am trying a lot not to make this sound like a bragging post, sorry if it is...........

its a cool idea but i think you taking it in the wrong direction. being the best at one kit or another vs. players with a limited selection is like a false victory, its kinda like cheating. example: yeah you sniped that assualt guy from his cover position, but if he had rockets he would have forced you to abandon your perch.: and vice versa : you killed that recon soldier, but he didnt have anything more than a pistol : being the best with one kit should be tested during a fully unrestricted round, in my opinion, thats the only way to really find out who is better.

thoughts and ideas: have a one week window(i'd say minimum of 3days and max 1 week, so more people can play) for each kit, players submit video and or pics of their end round score and highest score wins.

sgt.rob, The alt classes are there because not everyone wants to play the exact same class and would rather be different. Some bring different things that can help in a mix. But I made the restctions so that the best sniper would infact be a sniper even if it is someone fireing a rifle in single shot. If we did a bunch of pic's of different fights it would ineffect be a big e-penis wagging event I am reaily looking for a fun evening or 2 of out snipeing your friends and a little bit of e-penis wagging. With no revives every kill is a point and if you want to have someone in your squad be an assult for the healing limited as it is thats an option that may win it for you or it may not.

If there is a mix of all classes then it is just an average match. In an average match your not looking with the eyes of a sniper like you would because it's all go go go cap the flag so winning is important but not as much so as the kills. one thing unmentioned was that I wanted anyone on the winning team to get bonus points.

MDFubar are you asking for no IDS? I think we can go that way I just jotted a few thing down I was thinking of off the top of my head.

I think i kindof agree with rob. If you want to see whos the best of the best at a kit. Just have that ONE kit, not everyone. Because whats the point of trying to be the best recon, when u can also be an assult guy with single shot, which could practically be full auto since u just have to click fast. You should just play on everymap a couple of times and choose 4 so 1 map per kit. That way its not like "Hey i am an excelent machinegunner AND and excelent assult on Camp G so this will be a snap to win!" But that is just what i think. Also, i dont think u should do shotgun, there should be 4 + 1 bonus. So do the basic kits (assult-defib and support-shotgun) and have just shotgun at the end (clark or heroz[spelling?]) but that again, is what i would do. Also, might want to think about no nades/pistols because that could be an easy excuse on like the recon for example. But it sounds like a good idea

If everyone wants it to be single classes only for the BotB we can do that. With these fights I am looking for something different with each fight to try so assault does not hold a lot of interest since it is the kit most people use all the time.

The engy might be interesting as well, but the other 2, yes, will pretty much be about twitch, although seeing who's the best would be epic. All those possible names in there, we all know who they are.
