Cool 64-man server?

i was wonder how come TG has a 54 ppl server instead of a classic 64. I think it would be more fun although i cant say for sure. But im sure that wolfservers supplies 64 ppl servers + USD$2.50 per slot, we make SMs pay $10 per month, im not seeing why we cant have a 64 man server. I am just curious to know...

TG server IS a 64 player server in its core but we limited the playercount to make infantry maps mroe enjoyable

Even with 26/side, we still get far too many people for some of the maps. Sure, things like Tampa still feel empty, but in general, the maps are just a bit too populated sometimes. Having fewer players didn't work out too well from what I remember, so we just use the current setup, which I like. It means one commander and either four full squads (more than enough for any map) or six squads of four, for more tactical flexibility.

And one empty squad, just for that sniper.

A couple months back, the server was changed to full at 62/64...it was a mess. Maps like Carebear and Tunis were unplayable.

We are now at 46/48 due to titan player count restrictions. If we find that maps are more fun to play we may leave it at that size if we decide that the titan inclusion is not worth it.

also why do we always keep it 2 ppl less than available(ex. 46/48)?

That is to make sure that there is always room for a SM to join the server.

If people like or dislike the 48 player limit they need to speak up. 6 less people may seem like a drop in the bucket but it can have a huge effect on gameplay.

Played for about 4 hours last night and I really enjoyed the server, the population size seemed to work really well, not too congested yet plenty of targets to shoot at. Good balance.

hmm but wat i have noticed is that we made the server full at 46 then when a supporting member joins- he doesnt become 47th, he just kicks someone else out and becomes number 46..
i could be wrong but thats what it looked like

Yes but inorder for the SM kick script to work an sm must be able to join the server which is why we leave 2 slots open.

It's because the kick scripts doesn't take effect until after the player has loaded the map, the extra two slots are so SM's can always join the game regardless if a slot if being taken by someone who is getting kicked.
