To Beta, or not to Beta?

So I'll be the first to admit that I have been going a little stir crazy over the idea of two new maps, and the patch associated with them. However it seems that the |TG| servers will wait it out until after the beta is over with to make the switch. Considering the fiasco of the 1.41 patch I can't blame them, nor would I want the servers subjected to the same hell that 1.41 put other various servers through.

So on one hand, trying the beta would allow a first hand 'sneak peak' for all the members who partake in the beta, yet it would mean giving up |TG| for the extent of the beta period. I suppose making a backup of the game folder would make it easy enough to switch back and forth, but still I have to say that after playing |TG| servers it is hard to go back to a public server. It just isn't as fun when you don't have a good squad to run with.

Anyways the question at hand... When EA/DICE finally does release the highly anticipated 1.5 along with two shiny new maps are you going to beta or not?

I'm pretty sure you can run both if you copy the game files to a different directory and have two different short cuts. If i can figure it out I'll probably try the beta, but I won't be giving up TG .

Yes, you can have a seperate folder for the beta and a folder running the current version.

(At least, we did it that way when Combat Testing was testing NS. I think they also did it the same way when they tested Anzio. I'm not sure, because I didn't test this time around.)

Re: To Beta, or not to Beta?

Some betas are bigger than others, this one looks like just more maps. But i really hope it also has server stability.

Not out yet (that I know of) more of trying to find out if I would see any |TG| tags should I go beta when it does come out... As for having both 1.41 & 1.5 you should just have to create a copy of your game files and then swap them out depending on it you want to play Beta or play 1.41.

As to some of the other comments... I have no intent of leaving |TG| fact is I hope to become a supporting member here soon. It was more a comment that I would have to leave the |TG| server and play on the public ones until the beta was over with. I don't mind most public servers, but like a lot of people have said, the |TG| community brings something different to the game that you can't always find on any other server.

Re: To Beta, or not to Beta?

I guess I might try the beta. If I don't like it then I'm switching back, but it would be cool to just take a look at what might be in store for BF2142 in the future (and this might be the last update that EA will make for BF2142 so I want to try it and give them feedback to make this the best update ever).

You're not fooling anyone AAK. You just want to gloat to all the testers that Sir. designed the map.
