    1.5 Beta Is Public! (Tips for running 1.5 with 1.4)

    Battlefield 2142 Update 1.50 Beta

    Starting today you can be part of the Beta phase of Battlefield 2142 Update 1.50. Update 1.50 is a big step for Battlefield as it is the first time we have included community created maps and included them into an update. Wake Island makes a come back thanks to The Sir. Community and appears alongside a brand new map new to Battlefield created by Jason Brice, Operation Shingle. Also, for those who prefer to fight on foot, we have added a No Vehicle option to a number of maps to allow you to fight without worrying if you’ll come face to face with a Battle Walker. Also, as requested by match broadcasting groups we have separated the Commanders voice volume from the Sound Effects so you can keep the explosions and gun fire without the Commander interrupting the broadcast.



    FEATURES


    - Added community maps, Wake Island 2142 and Operation Shingle

    - Added the ability to use widescreen resolutions.

    - Added No Vehicles mode.

    - Added Conquest Assault mode.

    - Changed the volume control for the Commander Voice Over on request of the esports community.

    - Changes made to pod steering mechanism to improve control while limiting pod surfing.



    FIXES

    - Fixed the loading issue caused by corrupt Radial.cdb file

    - Various changes made to prevent cheating.


    The Beta update is an incremental file, to take part in the Beta you must have Battlefield 2142 version 1.40 or Battlefield 2142 Deluxe installed.

    Download the Update 1.50 file from one of the following locations:

    To be able to switch between 1.4 and 1.5beta
    • copy the folder C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142
    • it can take 5-10 mins to copy as its very large, name that copy 'Battlefield 2142 1.4'
    • then patch with the 1.5beta, that patch is applied to the original folder 'Battlefield 2142'
    • your desktop icon looks at the 'Battlefield 2142' folder and will run 1.5beta
    • when you want to switch between versions
      • copy your desk top shortcut for 2142, right click properties, amend 'target' to say "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142 1.4\ etc
    • alternate method to switch between versions
      • rename folder 'Battlefield 2142' to 'Battlefield 2142 1.5beta'
      • rename folder 'Battlefield 2142 1.4' to 'Battlefield 2142'

    interesting, thats the mode in NS isn't it?
    where you can unlock the UCB if you have all the other flags. This could add spice to existing maps, however with the grief to admins of people not understanding UCB is off limits till locked and the UCB being relocked etc and people are in there, you can imagine what the admins have to deal with

    Admins will deal with whatever it takes to keep the maps fun... I'm just worried about a point that Lorax brought up a moment ago:

    There doesn't seem to be an update to 2142CC in the works.

    For an infantry man myself, Operational Shingle is super sexy ! adds height into infantry combat, the enemy may not just be above us but really far above us, buildings are very close to eachother, tight packed in infantry gaming

    In regards to installing this I assume that the servers will have the correct update right off the bat or should we wait if we want to continue playing on the server? At least in BF2 I remember that the server has to be on the same version as well.

    all the existing servers, like our TG servers, will continue to run 1.4 until 1.5 official is released

    just for the beta, there are seperate servers that have been set up, about 40 servers right now. I did notice that between the servers that have all the new stuff ie maps and game modes (eg infantry only)

    when the betqa testing is finished the beta servers will disappear and then a few days latter all the servers will be patched to the official 1.5 release
