You obviously don't play trombone in orchestra. I had a 100 measure+ rest in the De Fledermaus overture!

Re: 'Motivational' posters
I remember playing one piece for orchestra in which the timpani had 5 measures of play time. The rest of the score was rest. The poor guy could never remember when to come in. XD

I play the violin, so we typically never had a rest for more than about 3 measures. I always got kind of a chuckle out of some of the brass, wind and percussion players during their extreme rests. We're all playing along, and too many of them are draining spit out of their instrument or staring at the floor/ceiling while tapping out their rest with their foot or picking their nose or scoping for hot chicks/guys in the audience, etc., etc.. Now when I was in high school and played in the Colorado Springs Youth Symphony, we did Copland's 'Fanfare for the Common Man', I obviously didn't even get to play. But I was too busy having goosebumps and being in awe of such a fantastic piece to pick my nose.

Re: 'Motivational' posters
LOL.
I play the bass, and usually I don't get too many rests longer than 10 measures.
But this one time, there was a 120 measure rest on our sheets, so my group pretty much took a nap standing up for the whole time.

Re: 'Motivational' posters
I play the drums (please don't scowl!). It's great practice to keep my frags in rhythm.
Though being a drummer significantly reduces my 2142 life-span. If I survive a whole round without being killed, I spontaneously combust and just leave a green puddle.

Re: 'Motivational' posters
That just looks painful.
Of course, I'm sure it doesn't really matter to them...

I hadn't seen a body left like that before. First it was clipped in the barrier. After un-clipping the body with the medhub, it was left in this "broken-in-half" state and would not revive.
