Re: The Prefect Shot: How to improve your Markmanship
I would just like to add, that while everybody calls the Voss the 'newb' gun, I have found that I simply cannot use it. It sprays so much that it feels like wielding a garden hose. A garden hose that fires bullets.
Baur is the way to go for accuracy and aim practice. And personally, unless I am surprised, when I go for 1v1s with the Baur, I scope in, but I don't take a knee. Just by scoping, I know that all the bullets I am firing will be going where my crosshair is pointing, and even a Voss-whore will go down fast. Aim at the middle of the torso, and let the heavy recoil of the full-auto shoot the guy in the head.
EDIT: You must spread some reputation around before giving it to Zhohar again.

Re: The Prefect Shot: How to improve your Markmanship
I was just like stark when I started playing this game, focused on revives because it was the only thing that I was good at. Running revives, diving revives. but when it came to killing couldn't even hit the suicide button right. It just takes time, and realizing what certain weapons do. My accuracy isn't where I want it to be, but it's def better, I had a <20% accuracy my first 2 months in this game running assault.
Also I tried using the baur to improve my accuracy, but it just messed me up. My best advise would to just stick with what you like best until you're more confident. and I think confidence is a major part of playing well.

Re: The Prefect Shot: How to improve your Markmanship
I don't know if a head shot with the Baur would kill you or not, but we had a hacker on the second server, he used the Baur and head shotted almost everyone on my team and killed them with one shot (I think, sure seemed like one shot).
I use the Voss, but I die quite frequently too. I found firing in bursts works for most weapons, but you should practice with them to get used to the recoil that goes with a certain gun.

With the Baur, it's two headshots to kill someone.

Ok, so it's kind of true. That guy was hacking though.

Re: The Prefect Shot: How to improve your Markmanship
There's some great nuggets of experience and advice here. Yes, they are mainly obvious but to have them re-enforced by you guys is very valuable.
I'm actually very similar to you, Stark. I picked up the assault kit and found that there was always some to revive and only now that I have started to get into the role have found a nice medium between kills and vives.

Re: The Prefect Shot: How to improve your Markmanship
Another thing you could try, is when in a big firefight and someone from your squad goes down, don't rush head in to revive them. Wait a second and see if someone else is going to go revive them. While he/she is running to revive the fallen comrade, cover them. Watch for potential enemy movement so that the reviver doesn't get mowed down by the same attacker.
When I first started playing this game, my k/d ratio was horrendous (we are talking about 1 kill for every 2-3 deaths if not worse0, but over time you start to notice things around you. So do take the time to learn each gun and see how each one behaves.
Joining a pubbie server on infantry heavy maps (berlin, belgrade, camp G, cerbere) will definately help you in gaining shooting experience

Re: The Prefect Shot: How to improve your Markmanship
When using the baur, I find it easier not to aim for the head purposely, but to rather let my recoil drift me up there. It's an old trick I learned from FEAR Combat where one of the guns was so deadly because its recoil led to natural headshots. The Baur, I find is kind of like that gun when in semi-auto. Just click really fast.

Re: The Prefect Shot: How to improve your Markmanship
Most certainly. Situational awareness again. be aware of who's up and who's not. If SL is down and everyone else is up, chances are at least 1 of that 5 is going to dive straight for the SL, if not all of you, so just fight that natural instinct of going for the revive an keep looking for enemies. From the beginning of the round try to spot the guys who love going for every revive (I'm one of them, I can't shoot straight so I focus on my revives) and make sure you know when these people are down so you know you might have to go for it instead. Not many things worse than one of your guys dying then 3 people going for 1 revive, then if you're up against a squad it's 6 Vs. 2 and you're whole squad's toast.

Re: The Prefect Shot: How to improve your Markmanship
Yeah, Been trying to get better with the Baur, and it's really tough. I primarily use the Voss, and like many people have said, zooming in and crouching at the same time is the key. I also find that quick bursts give the best accuracy and damage, while aiming at the center of their torso. Most of the time i get hit once or twice in the process, but not enough to get killed, so I dodge behind a corner, heal up, and have at it again. The Ganz or other support machine guns are tricky because they require you to fire off some rounds before they really become accurate, so they take more time to get to the point of the Voss or Baur, and especially in close range engagements, it usually leads to your demise. Those support machine guns are definately for medium to long engagements where you have time to "warm up" the gun first.

Re: The Prefect Shot: How to improve your Markmanship
Well, maybe you should try CS.
CS is an extremely aim-based game. Some players have magnets attached to their crosshairs that home onto people's heads.
In addition, using the AWP sniper rifle may help you with Recon in 2142, since you also have to stop before firing, or be totally inaccurate, as well as teaching you to insta-scope close range sniping.
Spending some time on this game may help improve your reflexes(killing jump-crouch-around-corner people), gun control (short bursts with the AK), movement (jump-crouching around a corner with an AWP), and frustration(if you get aimbotted).
