Shingle and UCB boundary
Last night we were playing on the 2nd server. One game we were being base raped like no one's business. People were camping in our UCB and stealing vehicles, they even had sentry guns setup! Luckily Lorax was playing GOD that game and paused the server, warned everyone, kicked some people and restarted the round. THANKS!
My question:
Can we get an aerial view of the map with the boundary line drawn so everyone knows where the UCB ends? We had a thread with the other maps, we need to add this one.
Thanks!

Re: Shingle and UCB boundary
This has come up for other maps as well. We do not enforce strict boundaries on UCB spawn camping. We know spawn camping when we see it. To spawn camp requires a certain intent to camp the spawn. Right now with a new map, many people are not really aware of the UCB.
We had a respectable TG guy steal the enemy ucb walker last night because he was unaware of where the enemy spawns.
Lets learn the map better before we jump to conclusions about if there is a problem.

Re: Shingle and UCB boundary
a line physical drawn would only stop people from STANDING in the ucb area. that would be asking for people to stand beyond the line, and firing into the ucb at the spawn points. it also would not be displayed to non TG people playing on the server, unless they visited the website. and i have never gone to another server's website to read their "complete rule list" and i am sure many people are the same way.

Re: Shingle and UCB boundary
When I got on the server there was no EU commander and I became the UC commander. When there is only one flag and it is a UBC anyone spawning in is being spawn raped. They stat there for 5-10 min stealing the walker with squads charging in to the UBC slaughtering people that were firing at them and those spawning in doing nothing alike. Some people were set up in a tower on the far west side head shot sniping and GANZing people as they spawn at the back of the UBC. There was a sentry gun in the UBC and I believe motion mines. After 3 back-to-back spawn rape deaths 2 to a GANZ and one to a headshot sniper I finally was able to hide and get up my screen to look what was going on. There was more in our UBC than out of it. I would of had to drop an orbi on ourselves if I were to try to kill them. Some turd walked their walker right in to our base and started randomly slaughtering people as they spawn.
People should have been banned last night, at least temporally. The server rules are right up their where you can see as the map loads and in game. There was no excuse for the conduct we saw last night. So you make a mistake and kill a couple people in the UBC, no problem I can believe that it is a mistake what went on last night was way past that by an order of magnitude or two.
Some of them should have been permanently banned. I believe that some of the scripts were off and that caused some of the problems. Lorax was kept VERY busy while he was only playing half of the time or so. He did a great job settling things down.

Re: Shingle and UCB boundary
It's just about having some self control imho. I don't think I've ever even come close to spawn camping. The new maps however seem more...what's the best way to put it, cramped. I played earlier and it was very difficult to get used to the lack of cover. Everywhere I looked I could see some potential sniper hang out.

Re: Shingle and UCB boundary
Note: If you find yourself being baseraped, hold your spawn. You'll stop giving the enemy free, easy and undeserved kills, and even though you'll most likely lose the round, at least you won't provide them any enjoyment from the act.

Re: Shingle and UCB boundary
Please understand that gameplay on the first day we were hosting the map is not likely to be normal in any regard. I saw lots of players that I have never seen on our server before. The sheer number of people being kicked for squadless time was monumental.
We are aware the potential for camping exists, but admins and players do need a touch more time to figure out the layout of the map. I do not doubt the other night was hectic. I have seen carebare just as bad during off hours.
follow normal procedures for dealing with these things. Try to contact an admin. Hit me up on xfire if I am not on TS. or type admin: reporting playerX for UCB camping. another option is to take SS and post up in the contact an admin forums.
We have no problem banning people blatantly violating our rules, but we do want to make sure the intent to spawn camp is there.

Re: Shingle and UCB boundary
I remember the names of 2 of the players. Most of the people I had never seen before. Like someone stated above, I can understand a couple kills before you realize that you're in the ucb, but this was blatant sentry & walker!
I also understand it was the first night with the new 1.5 so people were getting on which ever server was updated.
Once Lorax paused the game, stated the rules (which I tried to call out the players to everyone) kicked a couple and restarted it was fine. Even the people I saw in the ucb that didn't get kicked they started playing right.

Re: Shingle and UCB boundary
For sure, I always try to do my part and report bottom trollers when I come across them on a TG server. I was reporting the people to Lorax in TS spelling the names out to him. I should have reported in global chat to provide a record too. The way I see it is if you guys take on the lions share of work being an admin and I dont have the time or ability to be one I better be doing my job so I report anything that should not be going on.
Sc1ence I mean no offence by my first or this post, you do a GREAT job but if you were there you would likely agree some people should have been temp banned or more.Last edited by Thesleeper01; 06-01-2008 at 04:01 AM. Reason: clarity

Re: Shingle and UCB boundary
I have to agree I have see a lot of new names on the servers as of late. Now this is a mixed blessing in that more people are getting the chance to play |TG| style and full servers are fun servers, but it also means a lot of people who don't seem to notice the rules posted on the loading screen.
I've watched one person get kicked three or four times in the same round, because he either refused to squad or didn't realize that he was getting kicked for not squadding up, I'm still not sure which.

Re: Shingle and UCB boundary
If only there were a feature were an admin could talk to everyone on a server, kinda like a global VoIP.

Re: Shingle and UCB boundary
As sc1ence stated, give the map time to settle in and allow everyone the opportunity to learn the borders before we start issuing bans.
