Re: Northern strike unlocks
Excuse me? Use the search feature and look for other northern strike threads and you'll see that myself and others have made many attempts at keeping Northern Strike alive here at TG. The fact remains that not everyone has it and those that don't should not be pressured into getting it. We have a Northern Strike server up and it sits idle for most of the week.
I'll tell you what, we'll put together a mixed vanilla/Northern Strike rotation on the second server and see how that works out. Seed it and you'll have what you want out of the conquest server.Last edited by Lorax74; 06-24-2008 at 03:53 PM.

Re: Northern strike unlocks
Just a quick heads up, we are trying to organize a "Frosty Thursday" this Thursday the 26th starting as soon as we can get a full server.
If you are looking to get some NS unlocks join us and invite your friends.

Re: Northern strike unlocks
In all seriousness, how would you feel if you did not have the booster and you found yourself ejected from the server because of it? Bearing in mind that you can't just spam the join button and hope for the next open slot, rather you'd have to wait for the next vanilla map to come up and then spam the join button and hope for a slot. Rinse and repeat at the next NS map. Now imagine you're a Supporting Member and this happens to you.

Re: Northern strike unlocks
I imagine it would be the same way that people feel when any map comes up that they don't want to play and they leave, only to come back a few hours later anyways. I do it when titan maps come up, mostly because they run poorly on my computer. If there was, for example, only 1 NS map per every 10 vanilla maps in the rotation, that is several hours of gameplay between NS rounds: hardly anything to feel put out about.
Imagine how it feels to have paid for the expansion, but you never get to play on of the maps because the server you subscribe to will only support it in an all-or-nothing format.
EA wants NS maps on the main server. America wants NS maps on the main server. Do it for the economy.

Re: Northern strike unlocks
First off Lorax my apologies. I did not intend for my comments to be taken as either an attack or as an act of subversion of your efforts here at |TG|.
My comment was intended to be addressed at GlobalWarming, and try to let him know that after a few rounds last night on the second server of NS the few of us there agreed to look into possible dates for a more populated NS event. This said I see now that I should have quoted GlobalWarming as well to better show what I was trying to say. I guess the old adage of, "just because it makes sense to you, doesn't mean others will understand" is very true in this case.
Again my apologies.
Secondly; to those who missed it, there was some second server NS action last night and I see we now have a date for some more! This Thursday (June 26th) tell everyone!

Re: Northern strike unlocks
Not to be argumentative about this, but, wanting to play exclusively NS maps is not the issue: that is the "all-or-nothing" approach that I mentioned above. In fact, I typically play on the main server when NS events are occurring on the second server because I prefer the vanilla maps over the NS maps; however, having the NS maps put into the main server rotation would be the only way that I could enjoy them.

Re: Northern strike unlocks
When I joined TG I only had one of those $10 mic's it sucked and did not work, I would feel like I felt when I had to get a $60 mic. It sucked but if I wanted to play on the TG server it was something I just had to do.
I know mic's are not required to play on the TG server unless you dont want to play the TG way and be taken as a tool.
We have talked many times on this and I doubt that NS will ever go on the main server but I still like to dream.

Re: Northern strike unlocks
I don't mind arguments, far from it, but I do not like how people with the booster feel they should take priority over those without. The booster is not a mandatory purchase and most of us here bought it as much or more for the unlocks than we did for the additional maps. The simple truth is that until NS is free for everyone to use, and that may never happen, we most likely will not intermingle those maps with vanilla.
And in answer to point about not wanting to play NS exclusively, taken from from post #17 of this thread:

Re: Northern strike unlocks
Time has proven again and again that it doesn't matter WHAT you put on the second server - it could be knife/pistol only or camp gib 24/7 - it will always be empty anyway. People would just rather play on the primary, since it'll always have more players.
