Re: Northern strike unlocks
Not to get into the middle of an argument here.....but here's my 2 cents:
Personally I would like the 2nd server to be NS only. I was there are we started it the other day and people came...sure it was small, but I'm sure that we kept to it it would rise eventually. I am hearing about NS from more and more people, and If I wanted to play anything else besides NS then I would pull SM status and join the main server.
Just my thoughts.

Re: Northern strike unlocks
I tend to agree with 235. I'm not sure that the TG and 2142 populations are big enough to keep the server seeded 24/7 regardless of what we run on it. Personally, I think it's fun to run special events on it -- whether they be NS, Infantry Only, Titan, or whatever.

Re: Northern strike unlocks
And it's a pity really. I'm sure we could keep people there if it had people to begin with. Think of all the non-SM people that want to join only to find them selves booted for a SM. I think they would try the 2nd. I think the issue is that since it's not seeded(and therefore does not show up on the server selection screen) alot of people don't know it exists.

Re: Northern strike unlocks
I have to agree. For the most part the second server is a bit of a self-fulfilling prophesy. No one wants to play on it because it is not seeded. It is not seeded because no one wants to play on it because it is not seeded.
Still I have to say I love having it for special events and such. For example: tonight is a Frosty Thursday!! Everyone come out and play some NS. (It will be a great way to get some NS unlocks)

Re: Northern strike unlocks
Just throwing this out there;
Lorax mentioned that NS maps would not become part of the main server's rotation until they became free to use. Perhaps this is exactly what needs to be done. I purchased NS, and would have no problem at all if EA chose to release the content of NS for free to all in a patch. My thinking is that all three NS maps are as good if not better than the majority of the main maps, but I rarely get to experience them because they were part of an expansion pack that had to be purchased. Many people might feel 'ripped off' if EA did this, but I know I feel more 'ripped off' by only being able to play the NS maps once every fifty or so maps (and I do not mean this against the TG servers, I mean everywhere- There's literally like 5 servers global that run NS regularly and are populated... I'll play any map any time on TG, it's the superior gaming experience I love about it. It would just be even better to allow everyone, original purchasers of NS and not, to get the TG experience on these well designed maps). Maybe EA could just unlock the maps for everyone and reduce the price of the expansion pack with only the weapons/awards/unlocks.
That's my half a cent worth, hate me if you want, tell me what you think.Last edited by Cpt.Pierce; 06-27-2008 at 11:45 PM. Reason: Fixing wording

Re: Northern strike unlocks
The second server now has a mix of Northern Strike and vanilla maps, please seed it and report back on how you like the rotation as well as the format itself. There are a few Titan maps sprinkled throughout the rotation as well.
