Should they have made the APC an AAV?
It surprised me to no end the first time I drove an APC into the water, and found out that not only was it damaged by being in it as if it was touching acid, but it sank like a stone. Now, I don't know about you guys, but it seems to me, that in the future technology wouldn't evolve BACKWARD. In BF2, the APC was amphibious. Why wouldn't it be amphibious in 2142 AD?
Thoughts?

Not really enough water to make that necessary. Sidi Power Plant, that's about it...

Probably because it completely screws up damage physics and there are already ALMOST enough bugs in the game.

Re: Should they have made the APC an AAV?
I honestly can't think of any maps outside of the previously mentioned Sidi Power Plant where an amphibious APC would be needed. In fact the only other map I can think of with water and an APC at all is Highway Tampa, and the water of HT is around Silo5 or way up in the top right where it's not needed to go to. The only reason you'd ever need to go up there is to kill the last members of the enemy team because they put their commander on that boat out there in the hopes that your team will suicide fast enough to counter the bleed you'll hvae on their tickets when you take all the flags...
On the flip side though, I completely agree. The de-evolution makes no sense, should've just made the APCs amphibious, even if it's only for novelty.

Same thing goes with the hover tank. I mean, shouldn't it hover above water? I sank a few times in the tank and APC.

It would be cool on a Wake Island style map to have that amphibious capability. Board the titan by podding up from the water, etc.
And yeah, the Nekomata should hover above the water too... I'm too lazy to bother EA about it though...
EDIT: I forgot to mention that I've died on Verdun several times because I tried to cross the rivers with both APC and Nekomata in a hurry, and sank instead of crossing, even though the rivers are only like, 20m across. Same thing on Suez... I've fallen into the canal several times already.

Its pretty bad that the PAC APC can't float yet the front end looks like the stem of a boat.

Does the walker take damage in the crossing?

Oh, ok, so the fact that the walkers are walkers and not something else has some use after all....
I mean seriously, do you realize how much wasted energy would go into lifting those legs over and over? It would get like a 0.00001th of a mile to the gallon.

But they're only 11 tons, the Battle 'Mechs in MechWarrior are 35 to 100 tons and use nuclear power. I remember looking at one of the walkers and it had a symbol for radiation.

Speaking of the EU walker, I've seen a lot of artwork depicting EU troops backing up a Bogatyr instead of a Reisig. I want to shoot these illiterates.
