Re: Squad Name
Yeah, somebody needs to find the lunch menu squad name picture. It's floating around here somewhere. I think I have a shot of the alcohol squad names, though--I'll have to look when I get home.
As for me, I tend to follow the Reaperassualt School of Squad Naming guidelines--that is, I name my squad after whatever stream-of-consciousness conversation is going on in TS.
Or fall back on ponies.

Re: Squad Name
When I name a squad (I used to but not anymore), it would be Whiskey.

Re: Squad Name
If someone is looking for a squad to join in the beginning of a round, it could be helpful. They know from the beginning what the SL is going to tell them and if they like hanging back and defending toll, more power to them.
Besides assets/armour squad names when are squad names helpful? If I name a squad 8thNUTS, that's not going to help anyone, but it's fun. LunchMenu squads aren't useful, unless you are hungry and need to know what's for lunch.
My point is umm.... I don't have one, but I don't think squad names are very useful/helpful so name your squads what you want.A captain of the most awesome IHS ever and remember to burn before you pillage.

I suggest an all-recon squad called CLAYMOAR.

Re: Squad Name
It's a good point and while I agree entirely that initial intentions will be moot 60 seconds in, it does let everyone know that my squad will spawn at Toll and setup mines allowing the other squads to spawn at Harbour. I've also seen everybody rush north or south on Fall of Berlin as soon as the first break happens. SouthD lets the other SL's know that I'm staying South until needed to pull back. As far as useful or helpful I didn't know that was the point. Hero, Nuts, Awesome, etc aren't exactly useful or helpful either, just fun!

Re: Squad Name
Yh - I'll occasionally use it as a form of communication, If every squad named their squad after their beginning intention, you'd get some pretty scrim like organisation at the beginning. Imagine an "L Armour" squad, a "ComTower" squad, an "APC", a "Statue", a locked 2-man "TANK" squad and a locked 2-man "WALKER" squad at the beginning of Belgrade...I know I'd be pretty reassured that I was in an organised team. After all, I've seen (very occasional) TG games where no-one names themselves Toll, and either 2/3 of the team spawns there, or not enough (sometimes no-one at all). To avoid this, if you have a Toll squad form straight away, all other SLs are not wondering whether they should spawn at Toll or not, and can concentrate on stopping Harbour from falling. And even if you're not doing that one thing the whole round, it doesn't make a difference to anyone.

Re: Squad Name
For what ever reason if I actually take the time to create a custom I've found myself going with " ~ ? ~ " partly because I still consider myself a rookie SL, and partly because I don't always know where me and my squad will end up.
On public servers I tend to use "VOIP" as a way to attract others with voip as it makes for better squad play.
