    linky type feedback
Battlefield 1942 - Official Rules, Announcements and SOP's
SWAT 4 - Official Rules, Announcements and SOPs
these two links dont go anywhere meaningful and are old games that aren't supported anymore, newer games arent on there like TF2 or 2142.

Thanks silver. I'll PM Apophis about it.

I want this thread to decuss the "TG way" and how the 2142 group sees it.

Well, I played 2142 very often during the last 2-3 months, and mostly on TG server. Honestly, I think ppl from TG are playing very well.

Of course there can be some outsider sometimes but I have'nt being in any situation while I was playing that upset me in any way.

We have to split the forum and the game. On forums, we saw in the last 2 or 3 days some kinds of "special discussions" but situation has been resolve in the respect and I think no one wanted to bother anybody.

Well, it's my opinion. About the server, as I said, I think the admins are doing a good job and TG players are showing a good example. That's my opinion.

    Re: New annoucement

I don't like to (and won't) point fingers, but it has been my observation that there is a startling lack of effective communication skills, both among members and the administration.

If both admins and players took the time to pay attention to what each is saying, we wouldn't have situations like the ones that have been cropping up.

Also, for many of you, even though your main language is English, I have seen much carelessness in grammar and spelling. The proper use of punctuation and spelling does wonders for comprehension. And seriously, most members are of at least college age, if not older. I understand this is a forum, but a bit more care could be exercised.

As for game-play on the 2142 server... we need to crack down on those who wear the tags but don't follow our methods. Even a few regulars forget sometimes (myself included). This is not to say they should be outright punished, but a more firm response needs to be put out there, especially when the admins aren't on.

    Re: New annoucement

    Kossst and Kelvin,

Thank you for your import. This is very importent to hear what the new players have to say and how you look at the older players here.

I want to address the communications issue. Frist, what are our roles? A admin is here as a enforcer of the rules and conduct. We are here to provide a safe and balanced place of play and open forum. When it's called upon, we will also make new rulings when it is called for, although this is rare. Admins are rolemodels, but they are not teachers or instructors. They are not here to say that this tactic is better then another. They are not here to train new members actively.

Members are the core of TG, TG is nothing without it's memebrs. That said, it's the responsibility of the members to first welcome new players into the server. Then through VOIP and other means, encourge teamwork. The next step is to direct them of mistakes through example, not by threats of kicks or actions. Its the members that are exposed to hundreds of public players every day. An admin can only be exposed to so much before they are overwhelmed by the shear number of players on the server.

Admin's times are also limited and free of pay. While we try our hardest to answer every question, many times members get to them faster. This is where you are agents of TG. You have now become our billboard of what TG is. This is the point of the address and where we need all members to be on the same page. I dont want to ban anyone, I want to kick someone and have them come to me and become better players.

    Re: New annoucement

I think one of the best "symptoms" of the TG way is the way a TG treats a person who is breaking the rules or being immature.
Maturity, patience, and respect are not selective qualities -- they are not meant for friends only, and they are certainly not meant to be a facade to be kept up. Who we are, I believe, and how we are remembered among other clans and among ourselves, will be best show in the way we treat others when we have been wronged.
I don't judge a TGer by how friendly, polite, respectful, and mature he is when we're in a fine squad and the pubbies are behaving. I don't judge him when he is following my orders or I his, I don't judge him when we joke in TeamSpeak, and I don't judge him by the tags he wears.
I judge a TGer as a person when they have been wronged. When they've been insulted, when they've every right to lash back, when the first thought on their mind is to punish the person who has wronged them. I judge a TGer by the names he calls and the expletives he uses when he sees someone breaking the rules, I judge a TGer by the amount of patience he uses when teaching pubbies that they are meant to follow SL orders, I judge a TGer by the maturity he shows when an SM is not behaving.

Like that old proverb goes -- you can be a man's friend for years and not know his heart. Hang him over a volcano and he will bare his soul.
Who we are is when we are wronged, insulted, and pressured to reply back in kind. It is the self-control, maturity, and patience necessary to bear blows and teach when insulted that I admire in TGers.
    Fight!

There was another thread related to this topic recently. I'm going to quote a few of my favorite entries here:

After finding and experiencing TG in game and running with some TG squads, I found my way here, to the forums and started reading, reading the primer and the sop's and my eyes started opening to this family that is tactical gamer. After reading all there was to read I thought maybe it's time to put the tags on, I didn't....I didn't think I was ready...Do I really have an understanding of what TG is and what the tag represents...No not yet.

I re-read the rules and the primer, spent some time on the servers and in the forums getting to know those that are TG, what they represent, how they carry themselves.

Putting the tags on to me meant for one accepting TG at its core for what it represents, teamwork, maturity, a place to learn what being part of a premiere online community for mature gamers is truly all about and it also meant that I will abide by and educate others on the rules that we govern ourselves by. I wear my TG tags as a badge of honor, no matter where I go, what server I play on, TG is with me in the way I play and the way I conduct myself.

Wearing the TG tag is a huge point of pride.

These days when I see people wearing the tags, I know I can trust them to obey a set of rules that keeps both my fun in mind as well as theirs. I can talk to them without ever having met them before and know they'll listen to my orders/give me orders and won't ignore me for the sake of their own score.

TG means friends, even if I haven't met them yet.

    |TG| tag to me means you'll lead the way through respect, team work, and maturity. But not only that, you'll show the rest of the world how much fun that route is. I think for all who wear the tags, never forget to defend them!

My soldier name's Zhohar and I'd love to squad up with you. TG isn't about elitism, it's not about banning people, and it certainly ain't about TG stacking against everyone else.

Things do happen, there are imbalanced rounds, and there are just as many pricks in TG as there are in the general populace, but we aim to be and we strive for something greater. You may have had bad experiences on the other side of the fence and that's why I'm inviting you, whoever you are, to play a bit with us. You shouldn't judge us by our bad side alone.

If you're willing to PM me your soldier name, I'll look for you and invite you into my squads. I am damned proud to be a part of TG and you don't know that a lot of people here are biting their tongues at what you've said.

Even more, I am proud of our admins who do the dirty, unpaid, tedious, and frustrating job of keeping our servers clean and fun. Out of the things you've said, belittling our admins is probably the worst: these people do a thankless job out of the good of their own heart and you've just spit in their face.

No matter. Again, I invite you to buddy me or PM me your soldier name and I'll show you what TG can be.
I hope other TGers join me in this as well because TG is worth more than us getting pissed off at your negative comments.

Ladies and Gentlemen, TG is a very special place. Take pride in it. Make it your own. Learn from those that have come before you, pass on what you know to those that come after.

I'll leave you with my humble take on the matter:

This is one of the very few places I've found where I can play a game of 2142 with people who are out to have as much fun as I am and that I constantly learn from at the same time. What's not to love?

My experience isn't always perfect. My contribution to the community isn't always 100%. It is however, a really great place to relax and play a game.

    Re: New annoucement

What does TG mean to me? For me, TG is home.

In the last six months I have only played non-TG servers when I wanted to try out Northern Strike (only because the second server was empty ), or when I was pubbie raiding with other TG members. Before I became a supporting member, I would spam the TG server for hours if need be just for a round or two. If I could not get on, I did not even bother to play the game. It was just not worth it if I could not play the TG way.

What I am about to say, some of you may disagree with....

I think part of the problem is that everyone knows that people with the TG tag work together to have fun. As such, a lot of us, myself included, would like to play with as many TG players as we can. This desire to surround ourselves with likeminded players is however beginning to lead to an almost xenophobic atmosphere on the servers. With full locked squads of TG and uneducated non-TG solders left to fend for themselves. As a community, we are charged with teaching the next generation of non-TG solders what it takes to become TG. Yet as a community, it seems we have started to stagnate: pooling together instead of spreading out and teaching the TG way.

I guess, what I am trying to say is... how can we expect non-TG players to get the message, if none of us are willing to spread it?

A wonderful example I would like to share: A few nights back a very generous member of the community started up a “Learn TG” squad on the server. Having never actually been in a “Learn TG” squad, I was somewhat curious about what was taught and I joined. Admittedly this was probably not the best idea, but curiosity got the best of me. What I found most interesting was that I was not the only one with TG tags to do the same. In fact, within just a few seconds of its creation, the squad had five TG members (myself included) and only one non-TG member. We joked about it but went on playing and had a good time. I cannot speak for the others in the squad with me; perhaps they too just wanted to see what a “Learn TG” was about, but the event stayed with me.

I know that I am guilty of much of what I mentioned, I am not perfect. Nor do I calm to be. In truth I would love nothing more to play with an All TG squad all the time. I just think we should do it by making all of the non-TG players into TG instead of ostracizing and avoiding them.

I just ask that you keep this in mind next time you lock your squad, or next time to hesitate to join a squad because it does not have a TG as lead.

    Re: New annoucement

A "LearnTG" squad functions at its best, in my opinion, with no more than 4 TG'ers. The reason is that you need Tg'ers to show how to follow orders, how to stay organized, how to REVIVE, and how to do what is best for the squad. It is far easier to educated a few with the example of many than it is to try the opposite. I haven't had a learn TG squad in a while, but I think that it is time we all pick up that ruler and smack some knuckles.

What we have here is integrity, and make no mistake............INTEGRITY is what you do when no one is watching! Don't be surprised to see some old posts "bumped" just so they get read again.
