    Teamates

why does it seem like lately ive been getting the most bunk teamates one can imagine. when i started playing on the TG server, if you died, EVERYONE in the area would revive. now, im lucky if i get 3 revives a round. It feels like teams are always stacked, and TG players always go for one side. Has anyone else noticed a drop in TG-like behavior or am i just going crazy...

    Re: Teamates

Ahh yes....the inevitable team stackings....but no, the more blatant problem is the fact that people might have fallen out of love with the assault kit...it used to be a default kit when everyone was still fighting, climbing to gain those ranks of stardom....overall the community (I don't just mean the TG community but everyone playing bf2142) as a whole has matured and moved on to other kits.....after all variety is the spice of life!!!

The fact that so many people were using it caused everyone to believe that the fighting soldier next to him would revive him....It may also stem from the idea that everyone wants to be a rebel and abandon that tried and true kit that every other person on your team is carrying.....because, if you ask yourself: who really wants to look like the next person standing beside me carrying the default voss/defib/rocket kit?? (The Assault kit is the most fickle and misused kit ever on the battlefield...In more than 50% of the situations...it will win hands down....Assaulting and being a medic don't necessarily go hand in hand...would you want your doctor performing life saving surgery while mowing down an enemy? It takes a delicate balance of the two tasks to fully understand just these two basic roles of assault soldier...there's also more involved but I won't delve into details)

The third and final explanation can only be from the fact that because it was overused....people might have never "bonded" correctly with the kit and understood the true meaning of being a medic...it's not just rushing over to the first dead body in plain site and crawling to revive the critically wounding soldier...it's laying back..checking the surroundings...understanding that the 15 second timer is on the clock and those next few moments determine whether both of you live to fight another fight or both of you die....too many times...I've seen it too many times.....people blindly revive only to fall to the fate of an un-emptied clip of bullets...as a result, people start hating medics and start believing that medics are dumb lemmings chasing a dead body...
    As
Those are just some of the trends I've noticed...hope that answers why people don't revive like they used to...

    Re: Teamates

That was something I felt keenly too when I came back after my prolonged break from Battlefield 2142. Maybe my memory is fuzzy or coloured but even pick up groups ran around reviving like mad back then. After some time of playing now and rejoining TG-based squads, I've found that particular feeling to have vanished thankfully. I've joined with Silver's group quite a bit since my return - thanks for the great games by the way. Granted, I was a far better player then than I am now so it could be that I simply died less often back then and when I did, I was in better spots for revives. There were more TG-led squads as well.

Unfortunately, as long as I've been playing (which hasn't been too long), there has been some degree of "stacking" when playing on the TG servers. I feel it is bit better now than it was when you had constant IHS filled squads dominating round after round night after night. There are still times where there are stacked TG squads but it isn't an all out rape like it was at some points where you had a full side of TG IHS and the other with no TG tagged people at all. This is probably a two edged problem though and could be one of the factors of the issues above - that rape probably resulted in increased skills among all players who visited TG regularly (the ones who wear the tags and those that have yet to.)

However, pretty much every night I hear some comment made in TS about the teams being stacked and the a handfull of people leaving their squads to even it out. It's not always stacked. Tonight it was....but rage randomized it. He's become my favorite admin because of it.

This occurred the other evening. I was the only tagged member on my side, but there were plenty of untagged well known regulars. Yes I had the urge to switch over, after all; everyone likes to play with people they are familiar with much of the time. The stacking does happen occasionally due to when people come in and who disconnects and such, but it can be taken care of.

Yeah I noticed it too. Revives are down on both teams. Maybe it's because I always die in front of an enemy squad. I don't switch over though, I always command my team in hopes they win.

    Re: Teamates

The stacking issue is one that is fairly easily remedied by either a) bringing it up in TS and letting players sort it out for themselves or b) addressing it with an admin and letting them sort it out. I don't believe that it is ever an intentional act on anyone's part - typically if someone joins during the middle of a round and their friends are on the opposite team they switch at the end of the round to that team.

As to the reason why revives seem to be down - if you are a squad leader, are you calling for assault kits? Are you calling for any particular kits from your squads at all? Many regulars who have been with us for quite some time have learned that the best squads are those whose ranks are largely made up of the Assault/Medic kits because they keep revives up. When I run a squad I call for the bulk of my soldiers to carry that kit - and 9 times out of 10 so far my squad ranks as top or second squad on our team at round's end. It's no fluke, I assure you.

If you feel that revives are down, set an example for your team. Be a dedicated medic and call your squad-mates on doing it. Or, start watching for my "TG Fun" squads, returning to a 2142 server near you sometime very soon. Because trust me, if you join one of my squads, you'll find that everyone's doing the revive thing - not just the cool kids.

    Re: Teamates

I don't know why but I used to be a dedicated medic, now I'm anything but it. I call for Assault/Medics in my squad but it could be that I stray too far from them and die.

Stacking may also be due to the influx of members. And/or, for new members like myself who would like to try their best to be on a TG team to learn everything better.

Any time I get into a group of mostly or all pubbies, maybe 10% of the time there's an actual VoIP SL. The rest of the time... you're basically just grouped up for the sake of grouping up, and everyone Lone Wolfs anyhow.

It's kind of derailing the train a bit from the actual topic of discussion, but I can't help but express agreement on the "WTF" factor of the 2142 "Medic".

I see Assault, I see Engineer. Recon and Support are what I see so infrequently that it makes me wonder why those two classes are even in the game; when Recon is capped on so much, and Support is just Assault with a more powerful gun and no med kit.

    -but I digress.

    Re: Teamates

BF2 had six classes to choose from. I liked that better... you could choose a kit more specialized for the task at hand, rather than the kitchen sink classes of BF 2142.

I have also noticed no one likes medics anymore, whenever I SL and tell my squad go whatever kit your best with it always seems like everyones support but DOESNT THROW DOWN AMMO. You have to specifically ask for it over voip and even then they're non-responsive. Free points guys, especially to rocket-crazy people. However, I remember way back when I first started playing on TG when you clicked for a medic, the whole minimap was filled with plus signs.

    Re: Teamates

DocGuo's reason makes a lot of sense. No wonder I died so much, I rushed in to save someone and got a clip in my face.

Also I keep my ammo hub out all the time. I'm amazed at how fast the status bar in the left hand corner empties out.

    Re: Teamates

its refreshing to know im not the only one who noticed this haha. it extends farther than medics though. I can't remember the last time i had a gunner who didnt just bail out instead of repairing. i think it was Mech or possibly someone else, but we had an APC squad and of all the 6 members in it, i was the only one repairing. I always hold TG at the highest level of teamwork and squad play so i expect a lot, and lately it feels below par.

    Re: Teamates

I agree that some of the performance on the server has been less than it used to be, of late. But the real question is not why; the real question is, what are we going to do about it? Personally, I plan on running more Learn TG squads to help the newcomers to the server learn what we're all about (excluding Tuesday nights, which are 3rd SFD nights). I've had some really great "pubbie" players join those squads and really accomplish something, then go on to lead their own squads to great effect for the whole team.

Our servers are what we make of them. What are you making of them?
