Ideas for possible changes
This thread is for things we'd like to see change that could potentially benefit the game. I'm almost 100% positive we won't see many (if any) of these, but just for a small brainstorm, and fun.
1.) Fixing the NetBat system. Make it so the Recon NetBat add-on makes the diamonds move in real-time.
2.) Change the IDS and PDS to display diamonds on only your squad's screen.
3.) Change UAV to display diamonds on your entire team's screen.
4.) Change spotting (by CO, or otherwise) to show a diamond on your entire team's screen.
5.) After 1-4 are implemented, remove the enemy dots on the minimap and the squad map completely. Have it only display friendlies.
The above will give Recons a much more viable role, and carrying one in a squad will become almost essential. Because the IDS now becomes better than the Otus because of the quicker refresh time, the Accipiter drone becomes a viable SL accessory, and because everything is shown as diamonds, it'll actually shoot at targets.
Without the enemy representation on the minimap, detecting breakthroughs becomes a bit tougher. A commander can no longer just spot contacts running past because it will only show up as a diamond.
All of this GREATLY benefits the offense in a match, I have yet to come up with a way to equally balance the defense. The increased use of the Accipiter doesn't balance out the increased difficulty in detection. Anyone got any ideas on this?

I think that the fact that the IDS and such carry over to other squads greatly helps, as opposed to the commander having to relay all the enemy positions manually. The diamonds have their place and are very helpful, but the fact htat IDS, PDS, and UAV show distance away is a huge improvement.
Just my 2 cents.

Hmm, maybe have the diamonds change size according to distance so you can get a rough estimate? The whole point to remove the precision intel from the minimap, and make the NetBat system more useful. Maybe I'm the only one who doesn't care for the NetBat system much (outside of how much HP an enemy vehicle has left).

The undoubtledly, at least IMO, best Netbat function is the Assault, which tells you what kit the enemy has.
I don't think the vehicle health is as important, as generally you just have to kill the armor, it hardly matters if it has 50 or 100% health; it has to be taken out."Give a man a match and he'll be warm for a minute. Light the man on fire, and he will be warm for the rest of his life"

Well, I've been trying to think of ideas for items that would be cool that should be put in next booster pack. I thought that maybe a radar jammer would change the battlefield. It would function much like the IDS but hides the blips instead of revealing them.

That would be interesting, maybe SL item? A drone that follows you around and jams enemy IDS (maybe PDS too?). Basically a squad wide Ghost. Sounds like a potentially fun unlock.

I think it would jam the UAV and Sat-Track as well. It can't be a drone because it would be too over-powered. You'd be able to place it and it functions like the IDS and UAV with the sweeping part, but it would jam all forms of sonar and Sat-Track. A person spotting you will still alert their team, but there would be no blips on the enemies mini-map and no diamond on you. I think it would be a support unlock.

I thought of another one; I think the Support class should get a Flamethrower in the same tree as the shotgun.

Flamethrower... that's hot... /endlamejoke
Maybe a Sniper unlock that coats your bullets in some kind of chemical that adversely affects the enemy? Like maybe makes their aim more shaky, or their vision slowly start to blur. Would be nice to give Snipers a benefit on TG.

Yeah, something that makes people hallucinate. I think Medics should get a concussion grenade, Recon get a flash bang, Engineers get some sort of anti-infantry grenade that hurts the pilot as well (IE a phosphorus grenade), and Support gets a more devastating frag grenade.

Or how about just making a headshot actually lethal? As in, from a sniper rifle.

How about adding another equipment slot? That would be a player unlock.
Also, what are some suggestions for maps and/or vehicles? I thought they need to include some better artillery unit and a sea unit. They also need to include something like D-Day.Last edited by Mech__Warrior; 07-27-2008 at 03:19 PM. Reason: Remembered some stuff.
