Tweaking guide...what do you think?
I just found this over at Gamefaqs and didn't know if it was a joke or not....has anyone tried or know anything about this sort of thing? Is it legal by punkbuster standards?
Please check it out and post your thoughts.

Re: Tweaking guide...what do you think?
Have you tried it, Jazy? Like me, I think you've got a higher-than average ping (approx. 100... very unlike Bomber's 5.) I'd be curious to know if it helps much.

Well, I just changed it and I'll give it a test run here this afternoon and see if it's any better. I know that for me, trying to hit some targets has been a source of annoyance.

Re: Tweaking guide...what do you think?
Let me know how it goes. My ping floats around 20, so I really don't have a problem there. This sounds semi-promising.

Mine floats around 80 so i might try this if it doesn't call me a cheater.

Well, I gave it a try and didn't notice too much difference. I'll keep testing later this afternoon and see what's what.

Re: Tweaking guide...what do you think?
I have heard of this before, but I'm not sure it does anything.
If I remember correctly, the game is programed to automatically correct for your ping. The number you change is just the starting point when you start the game. As you play the game adjusts these values as needed in real time.
I think the whole thing is just a placebo effect.

Re: Tweaking guide...what do you think?
Ping compensation would mean I don't have to lead targets. TF2 has stellar ping compensation. I can play with 250 ping and still hit people dead-on - no leading, no phantom deaths. BF2142 has crap compensation. I routinely fire shotguns blasts directly at a guy just to have it explode all over the wall directly behind him.

Re: Tweaking guide...what do you think?
I have the same issue with the shotgun. I actually unloaded two shots into someones chest yesterday only to be gunned down.
Also, has anyone else noticed that guns don't seem to fire when you get revived. I've had it happen numerous times the last couple of days. Where I get revived then just give someone a stupid look as I stand there helplessly getting gunned down because my gun won't fire.

Re: Tweaking guide...what do you think?
Either you guys are right and it does compensate in real game time or this just has to do with lag and when you fire the game will get the message that you fired at this time and the enemy was here sorta thing if anyone knows what i'm talking about.

Re: Tweaking guide...what do you think?
I'm gonna give it a try. We'll see how it goes. I'm on the west coast so I don't have GREAT ping. Mine is usually somewhere around..what?....180-220

Interesting i've heard about this in other games (at least the first suggested change). Will have to try it out.
