Re: You make the rotation
Having all of those maps and infantry only, to me, skirts dangerously close to the usual Gib-Carebear-Berlin-Tunis broken record. Infantry-only would be fun for part of the rotation, but not ALL of it. Let's at least throw Highway Tampa in there to break it up.
But if stability is an issue on the second server as well, then I'll log on for my infantry fix, and just resign myself to going elsewhere for Titan and Armor.
Otherwise, I think playing with a smaller cap on the alternate server would be fun.Last edited by Spulat; 11-26-2008 at 05:04 PM. Reason: Changed my mind on response.

Re: You make the rotation
Since it´s supposed to be on the 2nd server it should really be very very easily seedable. Tampa is just bad in there and will make people stack the leaves.

Re: You make the rotation
I would <3 you guys forever if you took Operation Shingle out of the rotation. Everytime I get on, as soon as OS comes up, after that I get unbearable lag that doesn't go away until I restart my computer. Not to mention, the server has a disturbing tendency to crash after that map, or during it.

Re: You make the rotation
Ok, I've setup the 2nd server based on Lyra's suggestion. Since the 2nd server sees minor activity, so any change isn't going to make it worse.
The 2nd server is also prone to the same issues and has been tested to the same extent. Stress tests have been played at 48 people and was succesful. This server will also be forced to one game type. For now the gametype is No Vehicles.
I've added 2 maps to Lyra's rotation. All maps are 100 tickets and will be fast. The 2 extra maps will give break to seeing the same maps over and over. Smaller Shingle has been reported to cause less issues in crashes. I'll await your feedback if it still presents issues.
There is a 35 minute timer if there are problems gaining more then 6 people. This is to keep the maps freash and players happy at low server population. It only takes 6 people to seed vs the normal 8.
If people dont like it, I can revert it back to Titan/Northern Strike mode. The soldier formerly known as, Eroak.

Map Rotation
Since pretty much anything controllable has been ruled out at least to some degree, as far as server crashes are concerned, might it be worth considering spicing up the map rotation?

Re: Map Rotation
I agree, Spur. Seems like we are going to crash anyhow, might as well throw in some spice.

Re: Map Rotation
Hell ya lets mix titan, inf only and 64 Conquest maps. Make the rotation 30 maps long. Also turn on autobalance.

Re: Map Rotation
I sense sarcasm from Lyramion. Then again, I could be wrong. I agree that the rotation needs a little change, but that's up to the admins. I'm just tired of the same maps over and over, wouldn't mind some Sidi or Shuhia thrown in once in a while. (not titan)

Re: Map Rotation
OK, so here is the issue. We make the rotation interesting at the requests of the members(you) and people are happy. Then the ensuing crashes happen, whether coincidence or not, and after days of crashes and complaining of not being able to get thru a rotation..................we get another thread.
Now that thread state how bad our server is and that no one can play on it and people want to know why they pay and what the money goes for and why we don't have a better server, etc.
So, we simplify the rotation because that seems to bring back some stability and this makes those people happy..................ughh.
Now we have another thread that states the rotation is boring and needs to be spiced up........double ughh.
Now don't get me wrong, but this really reminds me of being married! Unfortunately we can't have both...........I know it stinks!
So the question is....................do you want stability or a variety of maps. To be quite honest, we took Shingle out and have been running the basic maps for a couple of weeks and the server is much more stable.....so take that into consideration.

Re: Map Rotation
(Shrugs) I figured we could sneak in one or two more maps, and if it was an issue just roll back. My bad
