The key is making sure you are running everything 2142 related as an admin. Teamspeak is the worst, if you do not have the admin button checked, you will have everything working fine, get in game and boom, either voip or TS takes a dump. Best of luck and enjoy.

I got 3 gigs, but at the cost of a 32-bit Vista.

That is, once they give you a 1.5 mac version.

Sounds cool. I need to get some more ram. I only have a GB. It works fine with 2142, but it could do so much better.

Re: First post from new computer

My PC is fairly new as well, and the best thing about it, is the load time of the maps.. Quite useful especially when every time the TG server goes to Camp G is boots me out, and I have to reconnect, but is still quicker than it took to load on my old PC. What's so special about Camp G?

I chose however to stick with 32-bit good ol' XP on 3.2 Dual Core, as nothing I will ever buy will run in 64-bit mode, which means it then has to emulate 32-bit, and the definition of windows emulation is SLOW!

I'm have no problems so far running things in 64-bit. (knocks on wood)

There are a lot of people here who are running 64-bit vista and i'll contact them if needed.

If anyone does go 64, go Vista 64 there is absolutely zero support for Xp 64...
I've been there, never again. I couldn't even get drivers for a wireless network card. Vista 64 though seems to have a growing following.

New rig specs look nice, I'm jealous...

Quite right. I have at most a 20-30sec load time on pretty much every map. I'm usually the first squad to open up. It's nice.

I am just running 32bit XP-Pro. I think it's my favorite OS. Vista is like XP when it first came out. Everyone said it was full of bugs and that 98 was so much better. Then came along SP2 and those things changed. Although I did her someone say that vista was gonna me like windows ME with windows 10 coming out in 2010 was it? ME was a little known OS that was kinda in between 98 and 2000. So, if windows 10 lives up to what microsoft says it's gonna be, then vista might be just the short-term link. We'll see.

Re: First post from new computer

I have played 2142 once with this new computer (until DVD drive broke), whick is now 1 week old.

Minimap was so bright, rockets shiny, smoke everywhere and whoa, motion mines look like that for real...

Unfortunately this caused me to kill 3 of my team mates so I went back to practise with my laptop : P (too bright minimap, and so shiny rockets)

    Gratz for new computer.

Windows ME was a dark age before XP. My dad got it to work until he swapped hard drives. Then everything went downhill. Needless to say, I didn't play my computer in over a year. With Vista, it reminds me of dear ME, but isn't nearly as bad. It still is terrible though.

Nice new rig, Nerd! I was jealous--up until the Vista part. I'm highly incensed at Microsoft for abandoning XP just as it was really starting to stabilize. But then, Bill Gates is The Man, so I always feel the need to stick it to him. Thus, my next machine will run...well...something not Windows! (Haven't decided yet; have heard good things about an OS called TinyXP, which is basically XP without all the crap, but we'll see.)

    Unix FTW!

Ah yes, Linux!!! I almost got into it but it seemed too hard.

On a side note, Arithea you need to fix your post. The image isn't here.
