Re: You know you break the rules...admit it!
Sometimes after I die I can still see the battlefield where I died and I often start blabbing ' hey look out hes coming up behind you ! ' before I realize Im dead and the dead know nothing and in that day my thoughts did perish and back to the dust I go ... dagnabbit
Ghosting is a bad habit of mine Im trying to break - please feel free to bust the ghost if I forget !
I have also rammed the APC into the walker a couple times - although this is more an act of Feeble-Finger-Panic than an intentional ( albeit futile ) attempt to destroy the walker.
I had a couple questions about ramming - maybe a new thread is best for that though.Last edited by MarthaHyer; 07-31-2008 at 07:43 PM. Reason: I typed UCB instead of APC and you cant drive the UCB

Re: You know you break the rules...admit it!
I've played Quake Wars for many months where bunny hopping is an accepted way to quickly move around and a way to avoid enemy fire before deciding to check out BF2142 and see what made it so popular with TG crowd.
After starting to play 2142 I quickly broke the habit while moving from place to place but it proved much harder to stop hopping while being shot at, especially if I was startled. I worked hard suppressing this habit until last month when I accidentally stumbled upon a perfect way to get rid of it: I broke my wrist.
I missed playing so much after a week and a half that I decided it would be better if I was slow and easily killed than to go another day without a game or two. I found a comfortable position in which I could play using my gamepad but any sudden jumps were out of the question as using my thumb would cause an excruciating pain. To jump I had to consciously and slowly turn my whore arm so jumping became an activity best to be avoided.
Still, I want to apologize in advance if I ever jump again when surprised and I think I will adopt the habit of letting myself get killed if I do it.

He doesn't break the rules, he makes the rules!
For me, it's just the little reflex hops that everyone else seems to admit too as well. I keep my thumb on the Spacebar, so occasionally if something surprises me, I accidentally hit that button. Then I sit there thinking 'Did I just... oh no, I didn't did I? I think I did. Wait, where did the guy who was shooting at me - oh.'

Re: You know you break the rules...admit it!
I never got much into FPSes other than BF2 and BF2142 and, as they seem to be fairly grounded in reality, never obtained the habit of jumping around wildly.
My worst problem is with commander orders. I admit that there are times, particularly if a commander does not have a mic, that I will disobey orders that are given. Usually it's because I'm in too big of a firefight to pull back. Sometimes it's because I think I can see a tactical or strategic advantage that our commander is overlooking.
But those 8th initiation ceremonies... they don't hang on my conscience at all.
(Why hi, Ponch and Fudd... why are you coming towards me with those knives? lol)

Re: You know you break the rules...admit it!
I sometimes get tunnel vision, and find myself seperated from my squad. I have accidently hopped being shot at and then report myself in chat. Eroak scolded me for shooting down a gunship too close to their UCB, I won't be doing that anymore (Fresh spawned gunship, gunships returning for repairs are still open game I'm pretty sure.)

I was reported for bunnyhopping once, so I warned myself.

Re: You know you break the rules...admit it!
There was about 6 of us the usually late night TGers play sometime after 2 am EST, and the rest of the server was filled with non TGers.
The round just started playing (SIDI Power Plant, PAC side), I jumped into a Boogie in order to catch up with my squad, driving out of our base at boosted speed when someone from my team ran in front of the boogie in turn running him over. I hate when I team kill someone by accident and so I stopped the boogie and backed up to revive him and to say I'm sorry. After he gets up I see splashed across my screen I've been punished for team killing. Well I'm pissed off now it was an accident and he was stupid enough to run in front of a moving vehicle, I've done the same stupid thing and I don't punish any one for running me over while I'm playing in traffic. So being pissed off I switched to my Voss and emptied my mag into him at point blank range. ( Zhohar you're right about getting pissed off my aim did get better. Laffs )
If I was going to be punished for Team killing well lets make it worth it, and no I didn't revive him after that. I did think about reviving him just to shoot him again but I didn't and I didn't want to be auto kick since I now had 2 team kills and a negative score. That action was so out of character for me, but the round before I think I had a record amount of deaths by TK not once did I punish anyone for it, I usually think; "Crap I shouldn't have been standing there." So I snapped when I got punished, it did make me feel good for a second or two after all 40 of my bullets where fired.
On the TG servers 99.9% of Team kills are not intently, bad grenades, firing rocket at an enemy just at the same time a team mate is rounding the corner. Jumping off a building and landing on a team mate and yes that will kill him, trying to landing a Air transport to pick up someone (Guilty on all accounts) I'm sure there is other situation which are all accidental. So most of the time if you get TKed it's not intentional don't punish someone for that.
Oh yeah never never revive then and empty a full mag in to your team mate when he just punished you for an unintentional Team Kill.

Re: You know you break the rules...admit it!
I try to hop over moving FAVs that are attempting to run me down. I don't consider a breach of the rules though as I legitimately hope to one day make it over one, like Hillary Swank did in "The Next Karate Kid".

Re: You know you break the rules...admit it!
I got accused of bunny hopping while I was piloting a walker the other day. XD
OHHHH A few weeks ago very late at night I joined half way through a Wake Island. I spawned on the core and saw some one sitting in the gunner seat, didn't see a name (Damn bug) over his head so I ran over and knifed him. Sadly after I killed him I realised he was on the same team as me...

Re: You know you break the rules...admit it!
I hate to say it, but this has actually save my life once or twice. Of all the things that can happen in this game, for some reason, buggies get me to jump more than anything. I don't know why, but whenever they try to run me down I cannot help it. Sad thing is I have actually had it work...
I did not clear the FAV ala Hillary Swank, I just ended up getting pushed half way across the map, but I was alive. I was so shocked i stood there for a moment laughing like crazy and then put a full clip into the driver...
I know, I'm a bad person
